My apologies for not understanding but if someone could help me out here it'd be much appreciated. Living in Edmonton since last year now and if I want to purchase game centre is it going to black out leafs games for me? Or since I live outside the GTA is it going to make those games available?

You will have all games available to you. It will however, block out regionally broadcasted Edmonton games, which I am sure you can live with.

haha thanks a lot, and yes trust me I can handle that, the only game I planned on watching was the one Toronto played here live... sadly we know that didn't work out for me!

All TSN and CBC games will be blacked out. But you can work around it. Browse through this thread and a similar one on main boards.

GCL's picture quality should be _______ than I was getting with HD cable.
GCL's picture quality at 3kbps is phenomenal if you ask me.

Indeed. I'm an old(ish) dude who has a real job and a house and a kid and all that crap. I just finished my basement and stuck a 60" plasma down there, have 2 beer taps, and a couch and all that junk.

When I watch the game, or more importantly - have other old(ish) dudes over to watch the game - I CANNOT under any circumstances have anything other than crystal-clear HD glory. I would be a laughing stock, and would forever be known as "fuzzy Paul" or something.

Since I cancelled cable I do not want to walk back in to the stupid Cogeco store and get an HD receiver and begin being ripped off every month again. If GCL is for real then I'm laughing. I guess I'll be getting it and posting a full review on Tuesday.

I work a lot of evenings, would I be able to watch Leafs game on GCL after they've aired? How quickly are they archived?

Thanks. Looking forward to the review. I am guessing if your use to glorious hd then you will moremthan likely be dissappointed with internet feeds.

If its anything like mlb internet feeds its ok but you can definitely notice a difference.

Whatever device you use make sure you use an ethernet connection unless your using ipad etc

Just bought CGL for this season.

Plan on watching all the games through my XBMC HTPC setup.

Now just to figure out if i need to use a VPN or proxy to get the Leafs games.

Anyone use any XBMC VPN plugins?

I don't know how long it takes for them to be archived, but all games are archived for later viewing. I would imagine they would be posted within 12 hours of them being aired for the service to be useful to their customers. I haven't checked though so I can't say for certain.

I use the Gamecenter live plugin with XBMC but haven't put it through the ringer yet:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=118853

I'm switching from Boxee to XBMC this year so we'll see how it goes...Works for the archived games, so far so good...

As far as VPN goes, I don't do that, I use unblock-us.com as mentioned several times in this thread and it will work with XBMC as well.

I use XBMCbuntu (Frodo RC currently) so it's a simple matter of throwing in the DNS server addresses in the /etc/resolv.conf file.

Plus you get us netflix and access to us tv.

And yep you will get all feeds in hd. No commercials most of the time too. It's smooth if you don't use a vpn

Okay but it's the season + full playoffs???

If yes, I am buying right away, and secondly.. ************* is freakin 10 dollars more, and that's only coz it's on sale til jan 17, after that is 63.99$ for 6 months.

Thank god I read this thread. Plus I am pretty sure centerice live HD will be better.

" The package itself runs through the end of the NHL regular season on April 27."

http://blog.pennlive.com/fanbox/2013...e_package.html

Hrmmmmm....... that's kind of lame if true..

but I guess they have the best and clearest picture... plus if my team doesn't make the playoffs I won't care too much about buying the playoffs as well..

Bought this in the morning. Been using free streams for 3 seasons now and could never stand the horrid quality, buffering and lately ads / software to download. Going to use a dvi-d connection with my tv. Can't wait for Tuesday as all cbc games i get OTA in hd.

Because the entirety of the NHL playoffs in the U.S. are now broadcast via NBC's networks, all subscriptions for Center Ice and GameCenter Live will include just the regular season.

Why don't unblock us support an ip from where there's full coverage, if its just the ip?

You can switch to Ireland, UK, Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland along with the usual CAN/USA choices.

One of 'em's gotta work, right? We'll see - if I have to get cable for May/June to watch NHL playoffs, then I can deal with that I guess. Oh jeez I'm so excited for Saturday boys! GO LEAFS GO!

Telus optik

Telus Optik offers the NHL CI for $49.99 for those interested.

Didnt ask if game center was included. I think one year some cable company included game center?
