Looch doesn't get up and fight everyone who hits him. He can take a hit. Just the dirty ones he responds to. BGL hit him clean, Lucic took the hit to set up Kobasew.

BGL did next to nothing to force Lucic to drop the gloves. Meanwhile Komisarek came from behind the goal line w/ his glove off. Get over it.
BS. Komi was hitting him clean.

You forgot the part a/b Looch telling him to leave the NHL, become a figure skater, and pee sitting down like the rest of the habs.

Can't wait for when Max Pacioretty has to fight Thornton or Chara b/c he's throwing too many hits on the Bruins.

Don't ever let facts get in the way of a good argument. indeed
Why do you keep ignoring the fact that Julien told lucic not to fight BGL?

Komi was shrugging his shoulders after whistles w/ a ref protecting him making fun of Lucic's back condition. Which the kid can't help. Komisarek is a master of picking on a guy like Krejci, who's built like a 10 year old boy, then hiding behind the refs when someone like Chara comes to square him.

He earned every punch Lucic drove into his big stupid face.

Care to explain why Lucic later instigated a fight w/ Orr? I'd rather fight Laraque than Orr. It's not Lucic's fault all those top line minutes where Laraque had to pretend to be a real hockey player, actually probably ended his career.

BGL has a severe back problem. That ended his career. Before that he was a pretty decent 4th line enforcer with some ability.

Interesting to see if Robins is still around in a few years to replace Thornton. You get the feeling that Robins would fight his mother if she was willing to drop em.

And, one day, he'll probably tell his grandchildren a/b when he got to play on the top line in the playoffs for the montreal canadiens.

kids - "Did you win, Grandpa?"

BGL - "We lost every single game! But Lucic only killed one hab! I saved the lives of 19 others, kids."

He has Milan Lucic; a whole roster of terrified habs, and a coach w/ a frontal lobotomy to thank for it. Happy ending. Well, unless you're a habs fan, that is.

It was Komisarek's 15th in the NHL- he was 2 inches taller, 20 lbs heavier and had fought guys like purinton, Andre Roy, Brasheer, Goddard, Winchester, Neil, Hartnell, and Witt.
Pwned.

Robbins is 31 with 0 NHL games played. No way he replaces Thornton when the time comes or plays for Boston at all unless it is emergency call up.

For the record, Robbins is not signed by Boston, he is signed to an AHL contract, so he can't be called up unless signed to a contract by Boston.

Shawn Thornton fights and Bruins win. No one could tell me the Bruins didn't pick it up again after that fight

Yeah Robins is 31 and I don't see him as a Thornton replacement

A replacement could come internally like Macdermid or Camara(?)

Macdermid in his first shift did fight Rupp and held his own

Maybe if not internally this team could bring in someone like Matt Martin to replace Thornton

It really depends on what you mean when you talk about an eventual Thornton replacement. He's a smaller guy who handles legit heavyweight enforcer duties. But despite being decent enough as a player, he really is an enforcer and a pretty good one.

1. If you mean that the Bruins will need a competent player who is tough and will fight his fair share, that's one thing. Maybe Camara develops into that role (or more) at the NHL level. Matt Martin, suggested above, fits this category too. I would actually like to see such a player in the lineup in addition to Thornton, not as an alternative to him. Either way, you are simply not going to put Matt Martin out there to fight Jody Shelley, John Scott, George Parros, Brian McGrattan, night after night.

2. If you mean that the Bruins will need a guy to match up reasonably well with the toughest top fighters in the league, that's something different. I don't see anybody in the Bruins system who is likely to fill that role at the NHL level. I'm sure some will say "that's MacDermid" but sorry, no it isn't. He's somewhere between #1 and #2 IMO. They don't have a guy destined to be a "true heavyweight" in the NHL to follow up Thornton.

And of course many fans, whether it's 30% or 79%, will say that #2 is irrelevant and don't even care about filling that role - which Thornton does do right now.

For what it's worth, here is Saturday's AHL bench-clearer between Grand Rapids and Rockford, on, if you can believe it, Pink at the Rink Night.
