Nashville plays Detroit on Feb. 19th, and I was curious to how you guys think he will be "welcomed." Clearly, there is some tension, but he was absolutely the most loved player for a number of years to many fans. I am not happy with the way he left, but he was sure as hell fun to watch. Opinions?
There will be a massive difference between Tootoo and Suter's receptions. I frankly don't even have hard feelings at Tootoo's departure or his landing spot. To me, it seemed like something of a mutually agreed upon departure. Suter was a duplicative dick.
Toots will be cheered and will receive a video tribute. Toots would have stayed if he wasn't being scratched in the playoffs and down the stretch last year. If toots has played his normal 3rd/4th line role late last year, he would have resigned. so it was almost as if we traded him because we think Yip is better.
Suter will be boo'd and Mgmt would be crazy to give him a video tribute. It will be ugly.
Some will act if it is the second coming of the savior, for some unknown reason he was a fan favorite. He was give more chances than any player ever to put on a Preds sweater. His falling from favor for questioning his playing time in the press will assure he recieves no vidieo tribute. There is little to expected from a former 4th line player returning. There is a reason the guy was not offered a contract, he was overpaid on his last contract here and the Wings front office may have just signed the guy to muck it up with our team.
To all the fans of this player, how are you going to feel if he takes a run and hurts Fish, Erat or even Weber. Are you still going to blow those damn whistles???????????
Fans will welcome him with applause and cheers. The first time he takes a healthy run at Erat or Josi that will come to screeching halt. The whistles were a fun novelty while he was here. Have no idea why someone would continue to use them now that he's on the visitor's team. I'd think fans would have more sense than that.
I definitely don't hate the guy. Still have his jersey that I'm not ashamed of. Why did he have to the choose the Wings though...uhg.
Toots was fun for a lot of years and I'll never forget sitting behind his Dad at our first home playoff game, that was AWESOME!
That being said, times change and folks move on. I'll cheer for him his first shift and hope we do a video tribute but after that, you are an opponent...no worse, you are an enemy since you landed where you did.
Won't miss the whistles, think we can send a case to the Joe to annoy the fire out of their fans?
i will boo him louder than suter...toots took less money if i remember correctly to go to a team that he will play less on. suter wanted to go to a team that he could be head guy, and wanted to be closer to home. makes sense to me. tootoo could have signed anywhere i am sure. he knew what he was doing, we wanted to flaunt it to management 6 times a year.
\everyone says that about everyone though. Last years playoffs I was told by a wings fan, after the zburg head smash, that the preds and their fans were classless... I laughed pretty hard.
Because we all know one player's actions represents an entire organization and their fans. No worries, ignorant people being ignorant. To this day I don't understand the 'USA' chant thing, or boo-ing the canadian national anthem. But that's another bag of worms.
