Isles should re-claim Haley, we never wanted to see him leave, especially to the Rangers
Then he would have to stay on the NHL roster all season and I just dont see that happening. He was decent when he got to play his game. However his gae got himself and the team into penalty trouble and it just wasnt worth it. I think the Islanders have better options.
I believe any waiver-eligible players currently playing in the AHL have to be waived in order to maintain their AHL eligibility. He would have been waived back in September had there been hockey, as he has to clear waivers before playing in the AHL.

He has played in the NHL. Zero pts in 13 games in 10/11. This year he has struggled mightily in Worcester accumulating a mere 4 pts in 30 games.

You're right, I meant to say I was surprised he wasn't permanently in the NHL by now, but he hasn't dominated the AHL like I thought he would.
Per Elliotte Friedman, some teams have an interest in Mashinter

Some interest in San Jose Sharks prospect Brandon Mashinter. He's a banger having a down year offensively in the AHL, but might get a shot in an energy role somewhere. Heard the Carolina Hurricanes considered him, but getting Kevin Westgarth probably eliminates the need.
Per Andy Strickland, Anthony Peluso could get picked up, as well.

Won't be surprised if #stlblues prospect Anthony Peluso gets claimed off waivers....multiple teams appear interested #toughness
Haley's on a two year deal with next year bring a one-way, so he'll go unclaimed
So at that point the Islanders could bring him back without being forced to give him a roster spot, even though I'd like to see him over Boulton and Reasoner by far, and could sign him to a 2 way deal.
I love the energy he brought, I hope they consider it.

I think if the Islanders had any interest in Haley, they would've never let him become an UFA last summer. NY Rangers really didn't have to give him much to bring him in, so I suspect the Isles could have easily topped the offer but chose not to.
