Next time I'll be there for a game, no questions. My best mates partner is my wife's best mate so it works out nicely. We're both bolts fans so we'll go catch a game while the women go shopping or something!

Hey guys Im goin to a Rays game on Tusday have a few questions. 1) Are there any bars/restaurant near the stadium? Here in Detroit we have some bars that have $1 beers next to the Park on game days, anything like this there? 2) I will be taking a taxi to the game. When the game is over will there be taxi's outside for people to use or not? IF not how long will it take to call for one to pick us up? Thanks for any help

I think you can still bring your own food/drink into the stadium

Fergs is fairly nearby. It's decent. There really isn't a whole lot more really close by. As far as a cab, I don't know about St. Pete, but I don't recall ever seeing a whole lot of them around the stadium either before or after games.

You'll have to rent a car to get around anywhere.

OK so some friends and I are coming down to the tampa and florida game on 12/22 12/23 and we were wondering about things to do when we are there. we are 16 so we will be pretty loud and hopefully we will not be too crazy but we live hockey. (sorry in advance) Also things like parking wise and any nice restaurants/attractions we should check out. Thanks in advance

Raymond James Stadium

Hoping to get some info.

Wife and I are going to be in the Tampa area and are going to the Buccs/Pats game. I am trying to find out if there is an area outside the stadium with food and drinks. I have only been to 1 NFL game (in Dallas) and they had some sort of fanzone outside with tents, music, tv's, ect...) Can anyone tell me if there is something similar there?

Any info is appreciated

You can tailgate all around the outside parking areas of the stadium, including Al Lopez Park. I don't think there's any official area with food but I haven't been in a while. Just bring your own food and drinks and have a good time.

Local hockey outlets.

Hello, I apologize, as this thread might be somewhat out of place.

I recently relocated to Tampa and all of my hockey stuff is back in Minnesota. Is there a place to buy stuff locally, without going online?

Thank you.

The ice sports forum in Brandon has a very nice pro shop. Alan the manager is very friendly and will try to sell you what you need, not just the most expensive stuff. The rink also has men's league on every day of the week at various levels, ages, and coed hockey.

May not be your preferred route, but Play it Again Sports all around the area are usually loaded with hockey gear. May be good in a quick fix or atleast for your wallet.

Visiting family in Orlando in 2 weeks but purchased 2 tickets for the Lightning-Senators game on Friday the 25th. Will be my first game at the forum. Plan is to spend the day in Tampa and get a hotel that night. Any recommendations on a nice, affordable hotel to stay at semi close to the arena?

Thanks in advance.

A lot of the stuff right downtown is kind of pricey. I consider anything over like $120 to be pricey for the record.

But you can find some nice hotels within 15-20 minutes of the forum easily. Just look around for good deals.

Oh and please post on here once you attend the game. I like to hear other fans thoughts on the forum. Especially with all the upgrades we have received lately.

Hey,

Going to Orlando, Florida March 3rd-21st and was going to do shopping and whatnot. Had questions.

1. What are the best Disney outlet stores around the area?

2. What are the best sports stores for merchandise-type stuff (staying at Orange Lake Resort and know of MVP but that's it)?

3. What are the best Guess outlet stores?

4. I'm going to the Jays game March 8th at Wide World of Sports (braves home). Do they typically sell away teams stuff or will it just be Braves stuff?

5. Any good restaurant ideas? Esp steakhouses? My favourite breakfast there is Golden Corral and TGI Fridays for supper but were there 18 days, wanted some other ideas lol.

Any help to any question is appreciated. Thanks.

I've lived in Orlando over 20 years and I don't think I can answer any of your questions.

1. I'm almost certain there's no Disney outlet stores. You might be able to find merchandise scattered around various stores, but I don't think there are any dedicated Disney stores. At least not outside the park.
2. All the sports merchandise stores are pretty much the same (little to no hockey). I don't particularly care about other sports, so this isn't really something I can answer.
3. Dunno
4. I haven't been down there in many years, but based on everything I don't think they'd sell away team merch. I'd be a little surprised if they sell a whole lot of Braves gear actually.

If you decide to go to one of the parks, that's what you're doing that day. They're huge and designed not entirely unlike Vegas casinos. Huge and no clocks.

There's sort of two worlds in Orlando, the tourist/park experience and the resident experience and there's not a lot of overlap between them. The tourist stuff is designed with them in mind and priced accordingly. They're not setup for repeat business which a business targeted more towards locals would be. There's also some geographic distance between them, so that plays a factor as well.

If you're going to parks, then you'll pretty much be all in on those. If you're going for the resident experience, then I'm afraid we don't have a whole lot special to offer.

I would suggest patronizing as many Solar Bear games as possible however.

if you ask someone where the subway is, they'll point you towards our many sandwhich shops. Orlando doesn't have a subway system for various reasons and the commuter/high speed trains haven't been built yet (still waiting the okay from Disney). A car rental is pretty much mandatory since you intend to go somewhere without mouse ears. If you were going straight from the airport to the Disney or Universal compound, it wouldn't be as completely neccessary, but Orlando isn't really built for any other form of travel.

Former Thrashers fan coming down for the the 2-1 Jets game...

Never been to Tampa, is there any nice Hilton / Marriot hotels in the area close to the arena? Price is not a issue as we have hotel points to use so we might be staying the whole weekend.

What are some things to do around town for a small family of 3 with a 7 month old?

Like... what kind of money are we talking about steakhouses? If you're willing to spend i'll show you a steak fit for a goddamned king.

Berns - not bad, feels like quality has slipped just a little over the years. Looking at 50 for a good NY strip, more than likely.
http://www.bernssteakhouse.com/Our-Steaks

Council Oak - still think its better than Berns. Steaks aged in Himalayan pink rock salt, lobster mac and cheese, great bar selection, four types of oysters... love this place. So delicious. Also going to be pricey, and you get stuck having to go to the casino to go to this place, but don't let that turn you away or you'll miss out.

Marriott Waterside and Embassy Suites are literally next door to the forum. Two minute walk, at most. Sheraton Riverwalk is on the inlet there and has some great views, it seems, but I don't know, never stayed at that one. Tough thing about Tampa is that its just not... like a touristy spot. Not a lot going on in downtown. What are you and the lady into? Maybe that can give us a better idea where to go with age/interests....

Yeah I saw the Riverside Marriot and really thinking about booking that one.

Really since we have a little one just a nice safe place to walk around and maybe shop & get a bite to eat. Maybe St. Petersburg would be better?

Random question here but how are the beaches this time of year?

Water will be cold and the snowbirds will be out, but the beaches shouldn't be too busy.

Think we'll be staying in Treasure Island by St. Petersburg... mapquest says it's a half hour drive to arena from hotel.
