How many millions is Redden getting to not have to play out the remainder of his contract? I just want to get one good cringe in and be done with it....

Hes probably gotten in upwards of $20M to not play in the NHL over the last few years.
Because of changes in the new CBA, we were already going to be carrying his hit this season at $5.6M. I think we still have $3M or so to play with.
We have $3,991,666 in cap space right now with a 22 man squad (including MDZ & Gilroy plus Drury/Redden buyouts). Bonus cushion is being used (deferrable bonuses of $1,250,000 subtracted). Haley has now been waived and will not count against the cap. Sauers cap hit of $1.250m is also included here.
At the deadline - you can use a prorated factor of 4,125 times the annual available cap space at that time.
PLENTY of $$ available.

Scott Gomez? Lets see if Chris Drury makes to make a comeback. Come on people. Scott Gomez.
As a 12th/13th forward. What's the issue with that? At the minimum, he can skate the puck out of the D-Zone better than anyone we'd have on the 4th line.
I would take him too. He still has the skills and the skating ability. Put with a couple of players who can actually retrieve the puck and I think he gets back to a 40-50 point pace.

I would as well, I also think despite his recent disaster season in Mtl you won't get a better player for the amount of money he could be had for on his next contract.
Watch Slats take a flyer on him for 1 yr, 1.2-1.5 mil.
No seriously guys. Scott Gomez? 13 points in 11 ECHL games? We should waste a roster spot on THAT? I wouldn't want him on minimum wage. ACTUAL minimum wage.
Rangerboy makes a good point. Let's bring Drury back. Maybe he even makes pizza for the entire team. Would be about as helpful at Scott Gomez on the ice.

Dubinsky had 16 points in 17 games for the same team. You wouldn't want him back?
Kreider only had 12 points in 33 Whale games, but it's okay to pencil him on the third line in every situation.
I understand the disagreement some feel towards bringing Gomez back, but not for the statistics that you cited.
