I'm not sure if other Blues fans feel the way I do, but I don't believe Dags really has a spot with this team anymore. If Schwartz makes the team, (and it really sounds like he has a very good chance the way he's been playing) all that's really left is a fourth line role. Dags is not good in that role, and can't really blame him it's not the way he plays.
That said, what do you think the Blues could get in return for him. I'm thinking some defensive depth might be helpful, but obviously he is worth more than spare parts.
Unless they can get a roster defenseman for him or someone desperate to overpay via picks/prospects, they'll wait and see. A single injury is all it probably takes to fling D'Agostini into a scoring role and you and the team will be thankful they didn't get rid of him.
I agree, and I'm not saying it's something Blues must do. However, I have much greater faith in Reaves and Porter filling for an injured forward than I do in Woywitka and Chorney filling in if one of our D goes down.
I dont think his value would be high enough to get a good return for him, Id rather keep him around for depth as with this shortened season an injury or two is almost gauranteed to happen.
I think Dag's is going to start the season as a healthy scratch, but will be the first person to play when needed. Schwartz is just too damn skilled to not beat out Dag's. Dag's is a quality player though. He'd be a 3rd line player on a lot of teams.
We really need to keep D'ags around as he is able to slot in anywhere in the lineup.
So can Sobotka and Langenbrunner and we have Porter, Reaves, Murray and Grachev behind them. Dag's is a good player, but if he can land us the D man we need he is an expendable piece.
The Blues are in win now mode. We aren't dealing anything for futures.
I understand that, was simply stating value from the Pens org.

It would have to be for someone like Tallinder if the Blues scoring forwards are healthy. He could really do some damage in a crunch with the Blues...Then again, he'd also fit well with Kovalchuck or Elias.

I agree that in a deal for a dman he is expendable. I was responding more to people thinking along the lines of draft picks as a return for him.
