Part of MSC's dip in production is due to the lack of puck-moving ability on the back end. Last year they had Gernat and Pysyk who could get the transition game going. They're struggling with that his year.

I haven't seen as many Oil Kings games this year as I did last year, but the games I've watched displayed a much more responsible MSC. Last year he showed more willingness to get into the dirty areas of the ice, this year he's showing an aptitude for defensive zone assignments and isn't getting caught down low in the offensive zone as much. He's staying higher in the slot and taking fewer chances on the rush, which is sort of the antithesis of how he's racked up his points in the past. He's no two-way dynamo, but he's made strides.

I see no future in the NHL for him as a center, but as I mentioned before, I think he could be a successful playmaking winger. Sort of in that PAP / Ted Purcell ilk.

Since he's a right-handed shot, I hope he'll be a RW, which is where our depth problems are. Other than Callahan, we don't have anyone here for the long haul. I'm hoping either Fast, Thomas or St. Croix can develop into a top-6 RW.

I think it'd be a somewhat safe bet to say that one of them ends up as a top-six RW. My money is on Fast if he can manage to stay healthy. Kid has all the tools to be successful.

Jesper Fasth will play tomorrow (he will have missed one game). I am not sure what it was.

What about offering an ELC to Myles Bell?
Would be a nice little pickup.
Can that be done midseason?

27 Goals, 60 points, in 43 games. +/- 30 on the season so far. If they invited him to development camp last season you have to think they are still keeping an eye on him this year. He's tearing it up, plus...the intangibles. Tough kid, sticks up for himself. Sounds like a really nice pickup. I posted a while back about huim but havent heard anything anywhere on him.

Guess his past is what is keeping him out of the news in the Hockey world?

He's too good to not get a contract from someone. Teams were reluctant to spend a pick on him because they didn't know how he would be penalized. Glad he came to our camp, and I hope the team has every intention of giving the kid an ELC at the end of the year.

I liked Bell a lot in his draft year, and based on his play I have no doubt he will get a deal.

Sather has always been known for reclamation projects. Ya never know.

Agreed. The kid has some major holes in his defensive game but that's obviously a bigger issue for, ya know, a defensemen than it is for a forward. Kid can skate, hit, dish the puck, and has a phenomenal shot. Huge upside there. Potentially a smaller version of Dustin Byfuglien.

Any chance he makes the Rangers as a 3rd liner? Or will his D hold him back? Or is he too inexperienced?

I think he could earn a 3rd line spot after some seasoning in the AHL. That's assuming we sign him of course. His defense wouldn't be considered bad for a forward, just sketchy for a defensemen.

i assume he plays the point on the PP. would be nice having an asset with the potential to be a trigger man on the PP.

NHL Central Scouting still has him eligible for the 2013 draft. # 87 on the NHL NORTH AMERICAN SKATERS - MIDTERM RANKINGS.

http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=77886.

Having said that, he still could be drafted by anybody this year.

We have 3 or 4 third rounders. Would fit in there. Hopefully only 3 thirds though

We don't get the pick if we make it to the SCF.

Why isn't Joel Lassinantti in the goalies list?

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman

Through 1 Bjugstad (FLA) and Skjei (NYR) have been the standouts. Have also liked Marshall (DET) and Forbort (LAK).

After a rough first half, Rangers top pick Brady Skjei has really turned around his play recently.
Happy to see Skjei getting some praise.
