I don't know who the MHH guy is, or if he has any inside connections, but if by not injured he means he didn't see any injury or incident happen, that doesn't mean it couldn't have been something minor. Could have been a groin pull or something else that could have happened without there being a big hit or puck to the face kind of incident.

Or maybe there is something to it....

Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: The Avalanche are still talking with Ryan O’Reilly, and sources say they are not attempting to trade him. The Avs have offered a 2 year deal worth $7 million, the same deal as Matt Duchene signed in the summer. O’Reilly turned down a 5 year, $17 million contract in the summer. O’Reilly is looking for something in the $5 million range. He’s using comparables like David Krejci ($5.25 million) and Evander Kane ($5.25 million). The toughest comparable for O’Reilly is teammate Duchene. O’Reilly led the Avs in scoring last year with 55 points, and is one of the better defensive centers.

If this is true ... I am not a fan of Dater by the way ... Avs will trade him.

My question is: If the asking price for a 1rst pairing dman like Yandle is to high? would you accept a 3rd line centre (around 30-35 points) and picks

If O'Reilly thinks he is worth 5 million, after one good season, he is delusional.

This... if he won't accept less, well, the Avs are better off trading him. I'd be more than happy to give him a deal with increasing salary over the term though.

Zajac re-signed for 5.75/year for 8 years. Zajac was about to be a UFA, and has been much more consistent than O'Reilly (read: much more proven). O'Reilly is not worth 0.75/year less than Zajac, especially on a second contract.

Agreed. O'Reilly IMO is worth about 3.75-4 on a two year deal, and an average of 4.5-4.75 on a 5 year deal.

He's the best defensive forward in 25 years...

Oh I know. The kid needs to get his head out of his ass. Except it appears it has grown so big that that is becoming impossible.

Hopefully they trade for whatever they can get at this point. No need for drama around the team and it's young guys.

I don't agree with this, after two good season (08/09 and 09/10) he has big drop in 10/11 and was badly injured last season. This is very risky move for Devils (not our problem), but also it would probably set a tone for Benn contract with Stars (also not our problem) and O'Reilly contract here in Denver, which is our problem unfortunately. It will be very difficult to sign Ryan under 5 millions.

It was told by Devils that Zajac is complete player who can play in all situations. IMHO last season shows the same for O'Reilly and he is better defensively than Zajac for sure.

#Avalanche brass say we must wait. I hear F Patrick Bordeleau, a scrapper, is in. Very good chance Stefan Elliott OR Tyson Barrie will stay.

Bordeleau? Why?

Bordeleau? Why?
Because we lost our top scorer from last season in O'Reilly, and Peter Mueller now plays for the Panthers.

We need more production. Why else have we added the likes of Hunwick, Zanon, Mitchell and Bordeleau?

Why did we add Parenteau?

Probably nothing, but it seems that we're all jonesing for things to talk about, so here's the latest from Chambers.

Something could b up. At noon #Avalanche Coach Sacco said selections were made, only needed to tell the players before announcement #Factor?

He ISN'T a goal scorer, nor should be relied on one as such. I repeat, we need players who can put the rubber in the back of the net, and he barely covers O'Reilly.

Parenteau is a set up guy.

Who has scored more goals than ROR over the past two seasons.

McGinn, Jones, Stastny, Duchene, and Landeskog will be the goal scorers on this team. With the shortened season, I expect all of them to be around 13-17 goals.

I don't think its a stretch to say we'll struggle offensively without O'reilly. We struggled offensively the last season and half WITH him on the roster.

Wilson leaving could just as easily be some kind of small physical complaint for example

Perhaps he was so grief stricken to hear that Te'o lied about his GF.
