No but going into a place with all the munition that you need is a great psychological advantage. Say Prust replace Stubitz as far as middle-weight, were we that intimidating with Stubitz last year? No. He sure helped but he wasn't that much of a factor. I think you need one guy that is there for pure intimidation. I've seen two mistakes made by Bergevin so far: not getting Parenteau, not getting Leblonc.

You must be joking right? Parenteau got 4m and we supposedly offered more than that + Leblond are mistake?

Big drop for Gragnani. Looked like he was just on the verge of getting a regular spot in Buffalo and then....nothing. But the guy has awesome stats in the AHL. Somebody will grab Gragnani for sure.

Yeah with all the teams looking for d-men, wouldn't be surprised if Ottawa grabbed him.

20 GP 1-13-14 with Charlotte(AHL) so far.

Problem is Gragnani's defensive play is nowhere close to NHL caliber. Teams keep finding that out the hard way (Buffalo, Vancouver, and now Carolina).

They always find room for a PP guy at #6 or 7. That's why MAB has a job.

Bergeron is at least a proven commodity though. Gragnani has 18 points in 73 NHL games. And of course, if you claim him, you have to keep him in the NHL.

Lapierre is now at 220 pounds and, according to Burrows, his skating is as great as usual. After all this time, I still can’t believe that Martin gave Lapierre’s even strength TOI to Pyatt and his PK TOI to... Cammalleri!

Lapierre is a soon to be UFA and he would look great in Therrien’s system

I'd gladly take Lapierre back..but it's not happening, sorry. He forced his way out too recently. He'd still play on the 4th line on this team, and that's what he was angry about.

The article mentioned that he went as high as 228 pounds only to realise that playing at this weight did alter his skating. Lapierre also mentioned that the toughest part was eating this much!

I tend to agree with you but I still have a small glimpse of hope when I consider the fact that Gauthier and Martin are no longer with us. Subban, White, Lapierre, Prust, Emelin, maybe Dumont... our opponents would go nuts!

I just noticed your edit (maybe I just missed it!)... I think he would have been happy with PK duties + a regular shift at C on 4th. Lapierre thrives when you give him responsibilities.

Not true. He was pissed to be off the PK.

Well, he's the one who demanded a trade.

No thanks to 4th liners who try and call the shots.

So is 220 big enough for him to fight his own battles?

Well it would be an uphill battle for him to get back on it...though it means more rest for Plekanec, possibly. Still, the one thing this team isn't in dire need for is more penalty killers among forwards.

I really wish we still had Lapierre. Better than Noke,Dumont. Perfect 4th line center / **** disturber / good penalty killer. Imagine him with Prust and Armstrong, how annoying that line would be.

Toronto the first team to test out the new CBA this way - Lombardi traded to Phoenix for a conditional pick, Leafs still pay part of his salary.

I agree, but apparently he wants to be more than that.

I guess in Vancouver, he can accept being put in his role, but at home he needs the big minutes? He was a fan favourite as a great 3rd/4th liner. I would love to have him back if he had matured to the point of accepting his part within the Habs roster.

So 220 lbs and allegedly no chirping...we'll see.

Lapierre was and is the ****ing man. Good skater, physical, decent hands, good size, good faceoffs.

Martin really dicked him when he played that scrub Pyatt over him.

I'd take him back and offer a pretty penny too.

Just saw a thread on the main board RE: Habs v Leafs and the overwhelming majority of the first four pages was giving every edge but Goalie to the Leafs.

Prospects, Forwards, Defense edge to the Leafs ?! Am I a crazy homer or are the Leafs significantly worse than us in every category?
