This is so odd. In this day and age with everyone all over everyone's business and with so much access to information, social media, stalkers, whatever, how did this not get exposed a long time ago? You'd have figured even casually people would've poked around trying to find out about a famous athlete's girlfriend/life, ya know? Not saying I don't believe any of this, just...what? So messed up.
Of course he was involved. He spoke about this woman in interviews. He claimed they vacationed together.
He's the perpetrator, not the victim.
Exactly, he wasn't hoaxed, he was the hoaxer.
Even if, lets say he was hoaxed, why didn't he come out and say something, why let everyone continue to tell a story what was a lie? You come out right away and tell everyone that it's not true. So even if he was hoaxed, which he wasn't, he still continued to live the lie.
He just released a statement saying he was the victim of a fake relationship. Stated he was in an online relationship and was duped, essentially, which if you've read the Deadspin article doesn't add up at all. It said in there they actually met in the first place in person, and his dad states that she came to Hawaii to see him, there's numerous facts going against this. Makes no sense.
Yeah this is just nutty. Not to mention it's 2013...or 2012 at the time, even if he was in this relationship and never saw her it never occurred to him to Skype or do Facetime or webcam or anything of the sort? I mean, you're a nationwide star athlete, even IF what he claims was true which it clearly isn't based on statement in the Deadspin article. This whole thing is just too weird.
His statement is bull **** through and through. Point is that at some point he knew this was a hoax, be it "December 26th" or from the absolute beginning. If he were a victim, he would've and should've came to the media immediately to admit it. Notre Dame issuing this statement today just o reactionary and defensive.
