.....no..no...no...a bluechipper does not mean someone who will turn into an NHL'er, it means someone who is essentially guaranteed to be a top3F/Top2D/1G....Ross is not a bluechipper, but he is a good prospect that will more than likely carve himself out a role on an NHL team.

Rattie and Bartschi play on a line with Marcel Noebles. Ross is currently playing 2nd with Chris Reid and Brendan Leipsic. None of whom have more goals, points, PIM than him. Also, the kid currently has 42 goals and 161 PIM which puts him and Mike Halmo of Owen Sound as the only 2 players currently in the CHL to have 40G 160 PIMs. I know he's a bust because he's a Leaf prospect and all but atleast get a ****ing clue before you start making assumptions.

Anyone have any playoff updates on Ross? hes been racking up some PIM's. Seems like a massive jerk... could he end up being a gritty SOB in the NHL with a little bit of a scoring touch?

He hits everything that moves and often crosses the line of what's dirty and what isn't.

Likely ends up as a Matt Cooke, Zac Rinaldo, Raffi Torres type of player.

I'd be happy if he ends up as matt cooke. His absolute max upside is probably brad marchand...and that's a stretch.

That would be very good outcome for us, I may be in the minority but I would be more than pleased if Ross ends up becoming solid 3rd liner in the mold of any one of those players. expecting anything more would be going a little too far, IMO.

He really cut down on his PIM this year. He has good skill, soft hands and speed. He may be more Cooke than the other two. He did compare his game to Max Lapierre except he fights more. He will be a solid third liner with some 2nd line in a pinch type minutes as he gets older and settles into his game.

Cam Reid, not Chris Reid, who also came to the team from college with less than half a season left...

Name that crossed my mind yesterday for a comparison was David Clarkson.

A David Clarkson, Steve Ott outcome is what we hope for, but apparently much faster.

sorry to bump this, but b-sens playing the marlies tonight friday night and i was going over the rosters. Noticed brad ross hasnt been having the greatest season on paper.

1) 1 goal in 15 games? Is this because he's been pushed down the lineup during the lockout?
2) 15 games. Was he injured? Scratched?
3) 9 pims. That doesnt sound like the brad ross that played in the WHL. Did the leafs tell him to quit the funny stuff and stick to playing hockey or something?

anyways, hopefully i get a look at him friday with all the marlies up for nhl training camp.

1. Yes sir.
2. Scratched
3. He hasn't been playing much and when he has it's been low minutes on the fourth line. He's been moved up in the lineup a few times and has looked good, but even after that he winds up back in the press box the next game.

He's had a tough time gaining any consistency to his game because he's basically been one game in, then sit two or three which can mean a couple of weeks between games.

Ross won't be a world beater but I think he's capable of much more should he be given a consistent, comfortable role as opposed to having to look over his shoulder every time he makes a mistake.

He's still been chirping a lot and you can tell he's a pest, also stepped up for Kadri and did well in his first pro fight. I hope I see more of him now that the lockout is over

Victim of the lockout for the most part; the Marlies are a top AHL team. I'm not too worried yet.

from what you guys are saying sounds like the lockout basically cost him half a year of development. Hopefully he can be better in the second half.
