- Minor league defenders on 2 way contracts (injuries/illnesses have decimated their defense)

Edmonton picks 2nd on the waiver wire - they'll likely see what comes available as teams cut to roster size. I wouldn't be shocked to see Adam Pardy as an Oiler to start the season.
I feel like a 6/7 D is last thing oilers need

Porter plays the left.

D'Agostini primarily plays the right but can play the left as well.

Current line up is:
Hall-Hopkins-Eberle
Yakupov-Gagner-Hemsky
Smyth-Horcoff-Hartikainen
Eager-Belanger-Petrell

Smid-Petry
Schultz-Schultz
Whitney-Fistric
Potter

Dubnyk
Khabibulin

IR:
Peckham, Jones, Sutton (Sutton's LITR)

Extras:
Paajarvi, Lander, Hordichuck,

Forwards look set. Could use a #1 defender, but wouldn't give up the assets to get one at this stage. Farm has had its defense depleted, with players like Justin Schultz and Teubert up (although Tuebert will be back in OKC before camp ends.) Dubnyk is being given the reins, and looks like a passable goaltender. If Khabibulin is injured, Edmonton has Yann Danis signed and playing in OKC.

What do you think they need?

We need a bottom 4 dman to replace Mitchell while he's injured.
A backup if Bernier is getting traded.
Hurricanes-Kings Proposal:

To Kings:

Jamie McBain
Jeremy Welsh

To Hurricanes:

Andrei Loktionov
3rd Round Pick 2013

Young 3-4 Defenseman and undrafted center prospect for a young 3rd line center. Only would pull this deal if Welsh or Dalpe doesn't pan out as the #3 center, and/or if the defense is decided to be too soft/injury-prone around deadline time.

Kings have no room for another defenceman, nor for a centre prospect. 1 second round pick is all it would take to get Loktionov.

Brian Campbell(Rusty Olesz), Eric Brewer(Buekeboom), Dennis Wideman(Jake Hauswirth), Rusty Klesla(Steve Upshall), Steve Montador(Petteri Nokelainen), Bryan Allen(Sergei Samsonov) and Greg Zannon(Steve Kampfer) disagree with you.

Not to mention Vishnovsky, Liles, Grossman, Meszaros and Ian White who got moved for exclusively draft picks.

Need:
Competent backup goaltender
Err, #1C!

And yes, I know we're not getting a C for those players but the need for a #1C isn't THAT big.

Definitely:
-Connolly
-Steckel
-MacArthur

Possibly (pending UFAs):
-Bozak
-Lupul

Outside shot:
-Kessel (if they get the impression he doesn't want to stay longterm)
-Kadri/Frattin/other prospects not named Rielly - Possibly as part of a package deal to upgrade another position, but would need to be a young piece coming back

Notice- They are all forwards. Leafs have a logjam upfront, despite not having particularly good centres. We have 6 pending UFA forwards (actually 5 now that Lombardi got traded), and good depth on the Wing which can be moved. D longterm looks good, so we'd likely be wanting Centres or Goaltending (or futures of course )

Would actually not mind him as a stopgap this year, but the one year left on his contract at $3,5M makes it impossible for us
We should target Douglas Murray instead
Sorry

I actually don't think Komi is available. I mean, he sucks. But our D is really thin at the moment. I think they probably just want to ride him out this year and buy him out in the summer. Next year Rielly is probably expected to fill a spot, and they can sign a UFA, Ranger might want to play in the NHL at that point, etc.

Also only if Cole is having a bad year. If he's at the same pace he was last year we could get more than a 1st out of him.

Luongo

No one else, because of injuries and we're kind of in the middle of attempting to win a cup. Hell, perhaps not even Lu at this juncture.
