This has to be one of the most obvious trades ever. People calling this since May.

Toronto could have gotten a third round pick. Phoenix wins this trade by a landslide.

Well, I'm not sure that's the 2nd center the Yotes were looking for...

I thought the same. I liked Lombardi, he just didn't fit here. Good luck in Phoenix. IMO, they should have retained 50% of the salary for a better pick

EDIT - It's a 3rd rounder if he re-signs in Phoenix.

What could Nonis be freeing cap space for?

If Lombardi re-signs with Phoenix they get a 3rd, which most likely he will.

We had plenty of cap space. He's clearing a roster spot.

Let's hope we can draft another Frattin with that pick

Not if he doesn't re-sign. Hence the conditional pick...

I like that TO is covering the signing bonus which is likely not pro-rated. Phoenix, I suppose is on the hook for only 48 games worth of his 3.5m salary, this season. I suppose it's actually 48 games worth of 3.0m given the signing bonus' subtraction. Something like $1,756,097.56, right? Also, Dreger stated TO would cover "additional salary", as well.

Pretty low risk move for Phoenix, I'd say.

We already have lots of cap space. This is just opening a roster spot. Our 2nd and 3rd lines were too crowded.

What? If they could've gotten a 3rd rounder without the condition, don't you think they would have?

We are glad to have him back in Phoenix. He played very well for us a few seasons back.

It's essentially a 3rd round pick for Lombardi and cash.

He will sign with Phoenix when the summer hits.

Good luck Lombo.

Good trade. Obvious trade.

I think this finally leaves a roster spot for Frattin or Kadri to take. He should do a lot better in Phoenix IMO.

Good luck to Lambo.

Because the trade is dependent on Lombardi signing, does this mean we are talking about 2014 picks?

If I were a Toronto fan I wouldn't feel too bad if he did. Phoenix is kind of like the island of misfit players, they always get a lot out of seemingly average guys.

This is what I like about the CBA. You can pay for picks

I'll take it. Lombardi was very redundant here and it opens up cap space + a roster spot.

I agreed with him on that. Klesla was a perfect fit because of the Leafs need for a 2nd pairing shutdown D and an overload of good defenseman in Pheonix. The Yotes needed a center and the Leafs had an extra. Obviously you throw a fair + on there and trade made.

But, the Leafs needed to open up a spot either way. As far as pick value was concerned I had him going for a 3rd. A conditional 4th that turns into a 3rd if the Yotes re-sign him is pretty damn close.

Can't really complain about this one from either side.

I think he'll do great there. I wouldn't be one bit bitter either if he turns into 20 goal scorer as two different markets and media/fan attention when some players come here.

I hope Connolly/Mac is next!
