According to Martin McGuire in his daily camp update (http://www.985sports.ca/audioplayer.php?mp3=160361):

- Dumont did well against Desharnais and Nokelainen (he was on the ice?) in the faceoffs circle. He completely dominated Ryan White; apparently White did not touch the puck once!

- Tinordi is opening some eyes: against speedy and/or big forwards, he is tough to beat. Can he be a solution while waiting for Subban? Tinordi thinks that he needs to move the puck faster.

- A lot of emphasis was put on the special units today. Pacioretty – Desharnais – Bourque and Galchenyuk – Plekanec – Cole were the PP lines while two rookies practiced the PK: Dumont and Tinordi.

- Plekanec had numerous talks with Galchenyuk and only had good words for him: Galchenyuk is asking a lot of questions and he is very receptive.

- Leblanc acknowledges the fact that he needs to regain his place.

- Therrien will keep 13 forwards to start the season.

Max DD Cole
Gally Pleks Gionta
Moen Eller Bourque
Armstrong White Prust

PK - Gorges
Markov - Emelin
Kaberle - Bouillon/Diaz
Weber

Price
Budaj

If that line up plays anywhere close to it's potential and stays healthy it's a playoff team for sure. Two big ifs granted but I'd rather have the potential for success than have no hope at all. Go back and look at the 2000 Habs line up and get some perspective if you're feeling less than optimistic. Remember how good Markov made Komi look? Emelin will be golden!

Therrien on L'Antichambre ..

If Galchenyuk stays with the team, he will ask a veteran to take him in and let him live with him at home. But he isn't there yet.

If true, its a good thing that the Kostitsyn brothers are no longer on the team. Party on.

And this is why you don't rush to trade all your vets for draft picks.

I'm not saying stat wise but it could be a shutdown line that can contribute on a daily basis.

Gionta is not a better goal scorer than Bourque right now Plekanec neither No one except Cole and paciorretty scored more than 27 goals recently and he did it twice and he wasn't playing with Crosby, he was playing with Stajan and Glencross if i remember well.

I don't see Markov or Kaberle as legitimate shooting threats (the way Souray, Streit, or even Wisniewski were) - they tried Markov in the role - perhaps I am wrong, but I don't remember it being very effective.

I think it's really beneficial to have a big shot from the blue-line.
I'd rather have an accurate shot and great passing. Some of these comments about Markov ...

Not on RDS.. just got confirmation from Stubbs. I'm betting Hefner might broadcast the game on the net.

It is strange imo to see reasonable lines on the Habs.

Why isn't Yannick Weber on Plekanec's wing? lol.

I predict these lines:

Pacorietty-Desharnais-Cole
Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Gionta (love the idea of putting the kid between two leaders)
Moen-Eller-Prust
Bourque-White-Armstrong (Bourque will be in the doghouse this year)

Markov-Emelin
Subban-Gorges
Boullion-Kaberle

Price
Budaj

Diaz, Weber, Nokelainen.

Ottawa is looking for a defenseman, maybe we can package Bourque and Diaz/Weber for a young prospect and a pick.

I agree, but we have four puck moving Dmen; PK, Markov, Kaberle and Diaz. IMO Diaz is already better than Kaberle, so I would have traded Kaberle for a 2nd or 3rd round pick to a cap floor team and leave Tinordi in the lineup in the bottom pair with Boullion the veteran.

We need more grit on the backend:

PK - Gorges
Markov - Emelin
Tinordi - Bouillon/Diaz
Weber

I wouldn't give them Bourque but I'd gladly do one of Diaz/Weber for Stone

Mmm, completely wrong there. Gio's potted 20+ for seven straight NHL seasons before last season's injury-plagued campaign. Bourque's been inconsistent his entire career, and Gionta outscored Bourque in both of Rene's 27-goal campaigns. Gionta being a well-known workhorse likely won't heavily drop off in production for another 2-4 years either. Bourque? No one knows what he'll bring game in, game out.

And that's not mentioning Plekanec who failed to hit 20 goals for the first time in 6 years last season.

Bourque's 5th on my depth chart in goal-scoring right now.

I know what I said about Tinordi; that he should keep maturing in the AHL..

But keeping him as a temporary replacement for Emelin and putting Emelin in Subban's position might prove to be an interesting experiment.
