Always enjoy when we have the nameplate ready for a mid-rounder. Also enjoy that Lou goes from sad to happy between the two photos.

I don't know. Heatley has a lot of finesse to his game, and scores a lot of finesse goals to go along with his snipes. I'd say he's closer to a Hull/Gionta mix. He's got the physical talents of a Hull but has a Gionta-like hockey IQ with a similar tendency to crash the net.

Scarlett's been on a hot streak lately, 14 pts in his last 16 games. He had 12 pts in his first 26 games.

Anyone get the feeling Scarlett may get lost on the shuffle of Merrill, Urbom, Gelinas and Severson?

Definitely like to see a sniper who is willing to go into the dirty areas. That is somewhat rare.

It's possible. The guys who deserve to be in the NHL will shine through. Lou will make the most of the assets, either they'll become Devils stalwarts or they'll be traded for help elsewhere in the lineup.

I don't think so but he was just a 6th round pick so there really shouldn't be high expectations for him.

The one thing Scarlett will have to do it put on about 10-15 lbs. If he stays at his current wgt if he makes it to the NHL he will get dropped as many times as Clarkson falls. But the kid can move the puck and you can never have too many d-men that can do that.

I disagree. If Karlsson can live with it, he can live with it too.

By all indications, Scarlett is an ectomorph. It won`t be easy for him to put on another 10 pounds or more. But as I said, he doesn`t have to. Just needs to learn how to use his size to his advantage. From what I`ve seen, he takes body more than Merrill who`s much heavier. Scarlett will be fine.

well according to the WHL website scarlett is 10 pounds heavier than last year and if he can put on another 10 by next year that brings him to 188 which isn't bad

Anybody who knows how working out works for those types of people knows that it gets only tougher from here. Considering everything he said about his metabolism, I think it`d be a miracle if he put on another 10, but who knows.

Miami (OH) @ Wisconsin on Big 10 Network tonight at 9pm. In case you need to meet your Blake Coleman and Joe Faust quotas for the year.

2 goals for Pietila so far tonight. Now has 12 this year but still only 2 assists.

Wasn`t he recording only assists during the WJC?

Honestly, I would be more concerned if it was the other way around.

And Pietila picks up his 3rd point of the night and 3rd assist of the season. Michigan Tech up 4-0 on Bemidji.

I think so.

The thing that's going to get him far is his defensive game, if he rounds out his scoring, than that's a bonus.

will he be NHL ready for next season or will he spend a year in the AHL? might be a tough question to answer though

Hard to say but I would guess at least a year in Albany. I wouldn't have guessed Matteau starting this year in NJ though so who knows.

Boucher will need to go to Albany to learn how to play proper defence like a Devils forward, and also to build up his confidence in his offensive skills.

Boucher does play PK I thought so it wouldn't be too outlandish. If he's competing against Butler, Tedenby, and etc for a spot then he may get one at some point next year if only because of attrition, assuming he is the one that can attrite.
