As to the bolded: If TT were born a couple weeks later, he'd be heading into the 2013 draft with a PpG or near-PpG season in the SM-Liiga and a good performance as one of the youngest players on team Finland at the WJC under his belt. He was considered a top-10 pick by every scouting service for last years draft with far less accolades. He was ranked more on talent last year, now he's put some very good numbers behind that talent.

I'd like to hear a real arguement from you as to why the players ranked in the 15-30 range in 2013 are better than TT. Maybe some scouting reports. Maybe something other than "The 2013 draft is deep, scouts say" or "You're a fanboy".
They are both playmakers, have a ton of skill and can shoot the puck. Although, Lazar actually likes the rough stuff, unlike TT.

Quote:
“He’s the total package,” Dirk said. “His skill set is exceptional, his skating is exceptional and his hockey sense and his discipline for the game is very, very good. What separates him is there are a lot of high-end players that have those qualities, but he has a mean streak. That’s why he’s the total package.”
You keep bringing up, IF TT WAS BORN A COUPLE WEEKS EARLIER...well guess what...he wasn't!!!!!!!!!!!!

His performance at the WJC is so overrated. Ya, a couple of fans said they liked him, but he tallied the majority of his points against very weak teams. He get's knocked off of the puck fairly easily, and doesn't really go to the high traffic areas. Sounds like a guy that will fit right in with the Hawks though.

It doesn't even matter what I post about the prospects this year, you will jsut come back and say "TT is better and has more talent" because that's just what you do. I have read lots of scouting reports and blogs about the 2013 draft that tell me all I need to know about the draft. It's filled with 1st and 2nd line top talent from 1-40.

Chicago fans blindly trashing our top prospects? Gee. Color me shocked. TT is an exciting player to watch develop. I'm glad we were able to get him. Rather have him than Tom Wilson or Brendan Gaunce that's for sure.

Tim Connelly got cut by the Leafs. Worth taking a 1 year flier on him? Maybe he could slot in at 2nd or 3rd line center.

I'd like it better than Gomez, still prefer Pirri to both though.

That's what everybody is saying, best shape in many years. Although, I'll also note Hossa said he wasn't right in November, not too long ago.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised when Hossa said he still wasn't quite right as recently as November. I was under the impression that he was symptom free long before then. He will need to take a few good hits before he can possibly be comfortable out there. He also mentioned that Bollig gave him a pretty good shot recently that had no affect on him, so that is encouraging but fingers crossed for he and Toews this year.

Please stop hitting our star players in practice Bollig.

Hossa getting hit at anytime scares me. He just tends to get injured easily.

According to Kuc,

Quote:
#Blackhawks assign Jimmy Hayes. Brandon Pirri and Ryan Stanton to Rockford of the AHL.
So much for trying Pirri at 2C to start the season out.

For the record, Tim Connelly was only waived by Toronto. It's not clear if they're going to buy him out or not. I haven't heard anything about whether they will or won't. Would seem kind of dumb to buy him out when this is the last year of is contract, it's a waste of a compliance buyout.

For those that happen to follow the prospects more than I, what ever happened to Makarov? Looks like he's not even in the system anymore? Him and Morin were my two favorite prospects when I followed 'em more.

There is a 0% chance Toronto buys Connolly out. He's a UFA, and they don't need cap room this year.

Should have made the Hawks in 2010-11, but his lack of english probably held him back from making the team, went to Rockford, most likely dis-heartened, didn't produce and went back to the KHL. Noticed he was producing a bit in the KHL this year, could have been a quality third-liner in Chicago at this point, simular to Versteeg's role during the Cup run, had he made the team when he should have.

I believe Chicago still holds his rights.

Or he didn't make the team because there were better players that made the roster over him...

We all watched that preseason, he was a cut above at least Skille and Pisani.

He wasn't worth going the extra mile for. Think of all the crap the Blows did for Nikitin and his lack of English-speaking capability.

Yeah, like Pisani and Skille..

Makarov had an outstanding training camp. If memory serves me right, he led the scrimmages in scoring (3G, 6Pts) and was solid in the one pre-season game I remember seeing. He was also the best player on the ice at the Toronto rookie tournament a month earlier.

Makarov did more than enough in training camp to warrant a couple game look, but he never got it. The fact that he didn't speak much english very likely held him back.

Upset that Jimmy Hayes isn't being given an opportunity to start the season here. Do we really need to keep Bollig around?
