Gibson probably wont be rushed. I say 2 or 3 years till he is in the NHL.

It a perfect world, Hiller signs a 3 year contract after his current one and gives Gibson a few years before the NHL then a couple years as backup/fighting for starting spot.

Between Christopher Gibson and Malcom Subban who makes it to the NHL first?

If you go by Calder eligibility, he's technically not a rookie. But yeah, he's our closest equivalent and he is expected to kick ass.

Be more bitter dude. Everyone still recognizes him as a top prospect. Some people, myself included have watched him this year and have found that at times he gets a bit overrated. I don't think anyone hates him.

Yeah, but he doesn't put up points so no one cares about him.

Pretty sure everyone hates him because of annoying hab fans.

I think there is 5-10 better rookies than him.

29 points in 34 games is not Domination of the AHL.

What Justin Schultz did with 48 points in 34 games as a D man is Domination of the AHL

Would 38 points in 33 games in the AHL potentially qualify as domination under most circumstances? Just curious.

If you are referring to Atkinson, it's good enough.

I like that kid, I hope he pans out well for you guys, very exciting to watch.

That's typically what you see out of the top forwards.

Scott Laughton. Right now they have him on the 3rd line between Matt Read and Wayne Simmonds. With Briere's injury he may only play the five games allowed. But watching Paul Holmgren tonight, when asked about the 18 year old he made it sound as if the kid was making it difficult on the staff to send him back to juniors with his recent play.

For the Penguins:

Eric Tangradi- He's going to get a shot with Malkin and Neal. How many LW would kill for a shot to play on a line with a 50 goal scorer and a 40 ?

If he settles down he will be ok. He just needs to play within himself, bang bodies, get pucks and stand in frnt of the net. If he sticks on that line one would have to think he gets alot of points playing with those two, earned or not.

Simon Despres- He's got a golden chance here. He didn't look great in camp ect but their giving him a shot. Theirs a chance he may even play with Letang.
Burtozzo is going to get a chance to play as well this season.

For the Canes:
I think Jeremy Welsh and Bobby Sanguinetti are the only two that technically count as rookies. Neither is expected to be an impact player this season.

Some guys just over the threshold are though, Zac Dalpe is slated to start the season with Skinner and Jordan Staal, and Zach Boychuk is slated to start the season with Eric Staal and Semin.

Can someone explain/post sources why Brunner and Cervenka aren't Calder eligible? It would help me settle an argument within my hockey pool.

Too old for sure in Cervenka's case, and possibly in Brunner's (he turns 27 this season right?)
