You should check out the Flames message board, you'll have company there. They get more joy from Erixon failing than the Flames succeeding. Which is fortunate for them because their team is a trainwreck.

I saw it more as a matter of timidness and fight than strength though. He has the size and strength TO do it. He just doesn't. IMO, at least. I also don't think him not making Columbus says anything. They have six spots locked up and there's no benefit to rostering him as the 7th and sitting him in the pressbox. He'll get minutes in the AHL and keep improving.

Because there's a huge difference between saying a player needs to bulk up and get stronger to play in the NHL and a player needs to learn to play with determination and dig deep. It might bode worse for Erixon that he doesn't seem to have found the necessary gear to battle on the walls than simply needing another year of adding muscle. Anyone can add muscle. Learning how to work harder and play that game is a gear you have to find. I don't think Erixon needs to bulk up to make a team; I don't think his problem is size or strength. I think it's simply not playing an NHL game. He doesn't have a stand out enough skill set that he can get by without playing an NHL game behind the net and in the corners. The point, really though, wasn't about dissecting WHY he fails. The point was you said he wouldn't make a team until he got stronger and I said I don't think strength is the problem. That's all, really.

Yes some battles require you to harness your willpower and out battle your opponent. The majority however are just strength versus strength in which case Erixon is/was often outmuscled.
He is still a young kid. Of course he is going to get out-muscled. He is a cerebral player, not a banger. Not everyone has to be in-your-face physical to be effective. Erixon will be just fine.

Is this guy a fit contract wise and additionally for us?
I gather CBH, if memory serves, were not too thrilled with him, but he's young enough he might have enough in the tank for balance of this year reserve fighting for 6th on this squad.
Of course, I'm hoping instead a better name turns up with the final cuts, and we don't want to have already made our bed, but it appears we have enough room for someone inexpensive. Do we want to look at this guy for this year?
I'd snag Irving or Karlsson, I think both will be pretty solid in the future.

29... Time flies or I was thinking of someone else all together. Pass on him. Although solid and serviceable mean the same thing to me. Irving would be nice to have in the system. Obviously we're in good shape with Hank and Biron but I still wouldn't mind someone we can groom as Biron's replacement.
