Not sure if this is old news but just saw that Willie Mitchell had surgery. Could be out a month. Don't like to see anyone get hurt, etc but this could help LA get off to a slower start.
Love that we are rooting against them just to see our pick improved. Oh, and the Jeff Carter thing.
Don't forget the phantom clock recalibration, or Scuderi faceplant of Chimmer.....
****in' Scumderi. That was the angriest I've been in a long time for a hockey game. I couldn't believe the refs let that happen to anyone without a penalty. Absolute travesty.

So under what pretense would it be OK to root against them? You're gonna put all those reasons on a "acceptability" scale? Who gets to be the arbiter of fan-dom?

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!
flames waived both backup goalies, I'd be happy with Karlsson or Irving as a 2nd/3rd. It would fill in a weak spot.
I think Irving gets claimed, but not by Columbus. Karlsson could be claimed way down the list if someone needs a stopgap.
Does Calgary even have any other goalies under contract (and in North America) besides Kiprusoff and these two?
I'm interested to see what happens with Brian Strait (Pittsburgh). Third-pairing defensive defenseman, and may be able to present a matchup problem against certain teams. And if nothing else, could allow Moore or Savard to be sent back to Springfield for further seasoning.

That confuses the heck out of me. Are they just planning on playing Kipper for all 48 games? Granted, that'd still be a considerable reduction from his usual annual workload, but still... one would think a mid-game injury (g-d forbid) would be disastrous.
My guess is this is a preliminary move to a potential deal. There are some goalies to be had around the league, and maybe the Flames know something that we don't.

Would like this more than a Redden move, although it still doesn't address the greater need in the front end.

McIlhenny still has to be exposed. I wonder how long they will leave him on IR? Maybe long enough to let roster rush settle a little?
