An 18-year-old taken in the 2nd round who made the team right out of his first camp, and played a major defensive role from the get-go is not impressive at all? Okay then...

Bridge deal or 5 years at no more than 4m per seems fair but if he really does want 5x5, trade him.
Frankly I think he'll be better than Bolland, but that's just my opinion. Apparently he thinks he will be too.

You don't get given contracts based on how good you think you'll be.

I disagree. He surprised everyone by making team as 18 year old. He has been doing better than expected every year, basically. He's only gonna get better, that's what scary. Sign him now.

You can't say he is going to get better for sure though. It is not a given. He may have peaked already points wise.

Edit: I say all this as a Radar fan who knows that there is more to this game than points but the stone cold fact is that points mean prizes and big fat contracts as far as forwards go.

I have to disagree as well. You can expect a few first round, offensively minded forwards making a team at 18 - but not many defensively sound 2nd rounders. I think he got better each year.

Now do we sign him to a Zajac type deal just because he is trending upwards? No way. He deserves a well paid (3.5-4mil) bridge contract.

Connolly has passed through waivers. Personally, I would have liked to see us take him to replace O'Reilly.

No offense buddy, but a big fat NO to Connolly...not with that contract, we might as well pay O'Reilly what he wants.

Who cares about the contract, it expires in a few months anyway.

He's pretty much everything Avs don't want to be. There is zero chance Avs want him.

The guy floated his way off Toronto camp. Zero heart.

I'd rather play Downie at center than do most of what people are suggesting.

I would guess it would be hard to float your way off of Toronto. That is some serious floating.

I guess I can hope we sign Gomez. At least someone other than Mitchell to center Hejduk and Downie.

Gomez still has the wheels and works hard enough. If he would want a cheap four month audition for next year, I'd be fine with it. I think he'd be a much better fit with Downie/Hejduk than Mitchell is.

I'd never want him on a multi-year deal though.

TSN says Arnott has offers from 4-5 teams. I wonder if we are one?

Wade Redden going west.

Ok with me, I never really thought he would be a fit here.

I've never liked Arnott.
Therefore, I fully expect him to fill ROR's place with the Avs this season.

Looking at the UFAs still available, there could be some type of adequate replacement.

Gomez. No.
But theres Arnott
Langkow
Dominic Moore I believe would be ideal. But with his wife's passing and Steve Moore incident, i think its a longshot.
Or even a guy like Jesse Winchester. Strong in the circle, and logs about 2mins of PK timer per game.

No. 40 Mark Olver C, 25, third season: He's only 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds.

Arnott would be an okay option, only if he understands that he is here in a secondary, veteran leadership type role. I know there were rumours of him not getting along with the youngsters in Nashville, but Giguere had the same rumours around him in Toronto. I think he'd be a good fit, but only if he understood his role on the team.
