Strome is soooo not going to be here this year. Even all the analysts are saying to "leave them alone"....referring directly to Reinhart and Strome.
As for Redden...he'd make a good third pairing. Hickey is good for youth, but Redden brings experience. He did have a solid 10 years of success. Experience over youth in this case.
Gomez would be a mistake. He can only play NJ type hockey. He's already proven with 2 teams he can't play anything else.
In our case I think youth>experience... Bring him in to mentor, but at this point unless he shows something a #7 is what he should be
I think they picked him up for AHL depth...kinda like Frischmon or whatever that dudes name was from last year.
As for Connolly...we won't have a chance to get him. We all saw what the Jackets are sporting as their 3 lines..they NEED everything they can possibly get their hands on as far as forwards are concerned.
I'd rather just have Cizikas or Ullstrom up rather than Aucoin.
I was all for claiming Connolly as it would mean at least CC would be sent back to the Bridge, but I guess money talks. Once again, Wang forces Garth to go shop at the Discount Store...

Unless they're as budget conscious as the Isles are. In which case, he would slip down the list.
On a different note, Michael Haley was put on waivers by the NYR, I'm waiting for that 1 kid to start posting on how the Islanders need him and should play along side Tavares.
Where are you Michael Haley fans?
Why in the world aren't we putting in a claim on Haley ? He would add to our overall toughness, and imagine him w/ Tavares and Moulson, he'd score at least 10 goals a year, and open up space for Tavares.
All joking aside, I did like the guy, great fighter, and he does have some talent. Hit 10+ goals a season at Bridgeport, DESPITE only averaging 50 or so games. So obvioulsy he's more than just an average goon. I wouldn't mind picking him up over Keith Aucoin.

I think Haley has "issues" that the Isles advised him to take care of, but he never did.
Anyone else see Columbus put erixon on waivers? He was just dealt for Nash. Wouldn't he be worth a waiver pick up?
I'd pick Erixon up. I'd also pick up Connolly. They need him down the middle desperately if they think they have a chance. Erixon, you just never know since he was a highly touted prospect.
They rewaive Finley and whoever else and call it a day.
Any chance the Isles claimed Aucoin b/c they intend to claim Connolly and would then expose Aucoin so the Leafs could take him back? Not sure of the mechanics of all that and if it would work out.
This team would actually have three decent scoring lines.
Those lines look pretty good, admittedly, but....this is not the same Connolly you remember though. He was awful in Toronto and they desperately need a #1 C, not even a #2. They chose Bozak, Steckel, McClement and Grabovski instead.
Granted, Boyes was also terrible in BUF, a $1MM risk is not the same as a $4MM risk.
