Kenny Agostino is the ECAC player of the week. Also Beau Bennett made the AHL East all-star team.

The real question is: is Kenny Agostino really the 6'1 he is being listed at right now? If so, that is a far cry from the 5'11 he was listed at previously, and a big deal since Bennett is our only A-level forward prospect 6'1 or larger. That would really help differentiate Kenny, along with his skill, from our other prospects, and give him a greater chance to be an impact player against NHL competition.

Height doesn't bother me as much as toughness, is Agostino filled out yet? Is he a stocky guy? Even big players get concussions (Lindros, Pronger...), so I don't care about that.

Penguins site: 6'1" 200lbs
Yale: 5'11" 195lbs (his pic looks like his rookie year pic or something)

Every other site has him at 5'11" and a variation from 190lbs to 195lbs. In any case, Sid is 5'11" and he seems to do just fine, Kennedy as well. Giroux is also the same height, so are a ton of other players in the league. I am sure if you went through every roster, the number quickly piles up.

Height is whatever, if Martin St.Louis was the height he is and skinnier, he'd be screwed. The fact that he's such a stocky guy for his height, is why he is still in the league and one of the top wingers even at his age.

In any case, you seem to not have any love for Ben Hanowski, all that kid has done is improve every year, steadily and has positive things said about him from the Pens staff and he's not some sub 6' guy either. He's 6'2". Seems kind of dumb to call a 5th rounder an A level forward and then completely ignore the others. Wilson has surprised a lot of people and he's 6', same for Archibald, Sundqvist is 6'3", Marcantuoni is 6', etc...I hate the whole level bs, you never know what a player can be until they hit the AHL, develop and then make the NHL.

So many can surprise you. It's never a 100% thing.

Pretty sure I've read a Pens article where they specifically point out his growth spurt since his draft year.

There's no way Archibald is 6 feet tall.

Archibald's 5'10 at best, doesn't stop him playing physical though.

I also saw Jayson Megna listed at 6'1", does that seem correct?

Elite Prospects has him at 6'0, so he's around that height.

I only caught about a period and a half but I got to see Wilson absolutely destroy someone with an open ice hit at the offensive blue line.

Yale vs Harvard on NBC Sports tonight. Maybe Harvard will retire Noah Welch's number to tie everything together.

Heh, Knights were almost unbeatable a few weeks ago. Now they can't seem to win a game.

So many can surprise you. It's never a 100% thing.

I don't disagree at all with you about the hight when you are talking about one specific player. You are absolutely right when you look at things individually. That said, we have seen time and again that when you look at things as an entire team, it really helps having some bigger guys who can help compliment the smaller guys. It doesn't bother me that TK is 5'10, or Letang is 5'11, or Crosby is 5'11, or Kunitz is 5'11, but we also have some other players on our team that bring a lot of size and really bring our total-team impact to a higher level.

To this effect, having guys like Agostino (if he is a true 6'1), Bennett (who looks to be a true 6'1 and will continue to get a lot stronger), and perhaps Kuhnhackl (who is 6'2 but VERY wide, with a big frame like Neal, if he can get healthy & productive again); along with the core guys in Neal & Geno, and perhaps guys like Tangradi (6'4) and Jeffrey (somewhere in the range of a solid 6'2) and Sutter 6'3) will really help us going forward. We can't be a team built entirely or mostly out of sub-6' guys.

On defense, it's a similar thing: we have Letang at just shy of 6', Pouliot at 5'11, Morrow about a realistic 6' or just under 6'1, and Harrington a proper 6'1; but then we've got Despres & Dumoulin (huge 6'4 guys), Bortuzzo (6'4 and with an exceptionally large wing-span, even for his height), and Maatta (who is closer to 6'3 and also a very wide body), which all help us give our D-core a good mix of big guys and a lot of size to help complement some of our smaller players.

By the way, I spent a week with Claude Giroux and some other hockey players recently (before the lockout was over -- actually even before the holiday break), and I can tell you, being 5'11 myself, Claude was clearly taller than me by at least an inch and is a solid 6' tall, even though he is built quite slight. He is not a small player. And like I described above, Phily is a team who has a lot of smaller guys (Read, Brierre, etc), but then also a lot of big guys to help give the team great overall size and ability to wear down opponents and stave off bigger opposition. It's important to have that balance.

Here is a quick video put together of Jayson Megna performing the same shootout move when he was a Roughrider (USHL) and the shootout move from this week.

Too bad about Maguire. He finally took over the starting job after a hot-streak, and now this

BU doesn't have a starter/backup setup. They have have an ongoing battle and play the hot hand, and that was the plan going in before the season had started until someone proves beyond doubt to be the number one choice. If someone proves it.

Ben Hanowski with 1 goal and 2 assists in a 5-1 win over Denver last night. His first multiple point game since early December.
