So a Finnish site wrote something about Granlund, what to expect etc. I thought I'd translate it for you guys.

Quote:
Mikael Granlund, Minnesota Wild
By far the biggest expectations for a Finnish rookie in many years. Will get responsibility from the beginning of the season. There has been alot of discussion since he was drafted if Granlund's skills are enough for the NHL. Soon we will see if Granlund has what it takes in the toughest league in the world. Started the season well in AHL, until he hurt his ankle and it slowed him down a little bit. Nevertheless, he is 100% healthy now. He will have a chance to show Minnesota what he's got right away in the first game of the season in front of the home crowd. If everything goes well, he can do a lot of unbelievable things in his rookie season.

I think Granlund's going to do great, and eventhough it's a shortened season, he'll clearly be the best rookie all around that the Wild have had.

I think he'll do fine as well, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if he got under 0.5 PPG.

What to Expect from Granlund's Career

Quote:
The fact of the matter is that, like his mentor Mikko Koivu, Granlund makes those around him better. He isn’t the fastest skater or the toughest player, but he has a hockey I.Q. that is absolutely off the charts. The way he sees the game, he’s one or two plays ahead of everyone else on the ice. His passing and puck handling skills are unparalleled and he always finds ways to astound opposing skaters and goaltenders. What’s more, he’s unbelievably deadly in the shootout. To put it simply, Mikael Granlund is a goaltender’s worst nightmare and a Minnesota Wild fan’s best dream come true.

I know what you’re thinking: okay, okay the kid is good, but can he be great? In a word—yes. While he is slightly undersized, which a lot of fans are skeptical about, no one can deny that he has greatness written in bold, underlined words all over him. I think it’s fair to say he’ll never be a 40+ goal scorer, but that’s not his game anyway. Granlund is a dangling, playmaking specialist that will likely see a 40%/60% split in yearly points as to goals versus assists. Granlund is basically a smaller, more talented and dynamic version of Mikko Koivu. Considering his talent and how well he has performed while playing pro hockey in Finland and in the AHL, if he’s healthy, Granlund could easily put up numbers at around a point-per-game.
Quote:
In short, Wild fans can be sure that the young man wearing #64 will most likely have a long and illustrious NHL career that should see All-Star recognition, a near point-per-game average, highlight-reel goals, dekes and dangles, plenty of deep playoff runs and, hopefully, a Stanley Cup or two for Minnesota. That’s not too much to ask, is it?

I'll be happy if Granlund can be a 20+40 defensively responsible legit number 2C.

EDIT: ROFL the tags down below, hilarious

I wouldn't be happy with that.. Im happy if he's superstar of the game and clear 1C.

Its ok if he becomes 2C like you said.

Anything less = disappointment, huge one.

He'll be the 2nd line center, with Cullen and Seto on the wings to start.

I'd love to see him and PMB together (with Seto, maybe). It'd be what I call a puck posession-line for sure

Get Cullen off the line if you want to see Granlund take off. Cullen doesn't think the game like Granlund.

Honestly, I would try Bouchard there instead of Cullen. Size is not an issue because Bouchard is actually better at puck retrievals and puck possession than Cullen. And both are equally soft.

Setoguchi-Granlund-Bouchard

Cullen will start on his wing, but Yeo will quickly be reminded that cullen isnt suited for anything more than an energy role at this point, and will hopefully move bouchard up.

After a long wait, the NHL season starts saturday night. The most intresting team for Finns is Minnesota Wild, and a big reason for that is the national hero, Mikael Granlund.

Soon it's here, the moment we all have waited for. The first NHL game.

Theres no jitters or tingling. It's mostly excitement. We have a lockerroom ful of excited guys around me. It's great that the season starts comments Granlund.

Granlund plays his first NHL game in St. Paul, at the Wilds home arena against the Colorado Avalanche.

Hope so. Every year there are one or two guys that are slotted-up where they shouldn't be and it drives me crazy. No idea why.

20-40 as a rookie would be outstanding, in an 80 game season.

10 - 20 would be good enough for me this season.

It's hard to tell what his actual ceiling will be. Look at Butch: never topped 63 points, but his hands are as good as MG's, and he''s a much better skater. If MG's "vision and intangibles" are better than PMB, maybe he'll do better.

Hard to predict.

Bouchard always held himself back by being afraid to go into traffic for so long. Granlund doesn't have that issue.

Buuuuuut Granlund can't skate at anywhere Near the level PMB can. Too bad we can't combine the two!

But Granlund has more situation awareness than Bouchard does. (ie - you won't see Granlund waisting 1min 45secs of a 2min 5 on 3 single handedly for the opposition)

Also, most rookies that score 40pts in 82 games are either 18yrs old, or bottom six players when they do so. Granlund is neither.

Precisely!

Talon, I find it hard to call a guy into question for going into traffic who's had 2 major concussions. He's been there, done that, and paid a heavy price.

Really? How many bottom 6 guys score 40 points ever? Gabby only got 36 points as an 18 year old.
