Sadly he would have a legitimate chance at being the #1 C for my Flames.

And he couldn't crack the line-up of a team finishing 28th last season, no less. That's depressing from a Flames POV.

It's the reality of the Flames situation, they are stronger on the wings but have major question marks down the middle. If Gomez wants to try and ressurect his career, Calgary should be his choice.

Gomez is better than 95 % of his former team's forwards. The problem was his contract.

Gomez could take 3C for Avs if O'Reilly continues to be a wannabe Russian.

Obviously not for free but for league minimum 1-year contract, prove he can still play and get a chance for another cup. Why not, he already got paid for this year.

SJ will take him at $1 mil/year and stick him on the 3rd/4th line.

Thanks for the laugh. I won't even try to argue since it's too far from the reality.

Wow.

I guess this is a poster who has not watched a Hab game in the last two seasons.

Interesting that Kyper says the Canes are interested as their beat reporter tweeted earlier today that Rutherford told him no interest.

Rutherford is obviously embarassed to even be contemplating having Gomez on his team.

Quite interesting how the contract can alter the opinion we have on a player's performance. I understand the reasoning behind it. Gomez was virtually destroying any chances of getting better and signing UFA's.

Still, the Canadiens were the laughing stock of the NHL because Gomez earned 7 millions dollars while being unable to crack a weak lineup. He had nothing over Desharnais, Plekanec or Eller justifying his presence on the ice. Guess what? Gomez at league minimum is the same player without the big contract.

He's a nice guy, but very one dimensional. Can't believe some teams are desperate enough to grab him.

Also, Martin made his mea culpa on television about not benching Gomez. Being aware of his errors is part of being a coach, he said.

Clearly someone told him, "You can't pawn him off to Montreal if he fails."

Chip said he was "told" the 'Canes had no interest, doubtful that it came straight from JR.

Gomez was a 60 point guy 2 seasons ago and some may write off last season as him having an injury riddled season. Personally I think the only reason a team signs Gomez is they need a 2nd line center and hopes he regains his form, if you already have your first 2 spots filled he will be useless being bottom 6.

Kind of hopes he signs with the Avs...we could use another bottom 6 center with O'Reilly gone.

There's no team in the league desperate enough to sign Gomez for a 2nd line role.

I am hoping he signs with NJ. Coudl use him on the 2nd pp and 2nd line with Elias. The EGG line was one of my favorites back in the day.

How Sather managed to send him to Montreal will always impress me. I don't think I've ever seen a franchise get bent over so badly.
