Colby Armstrong is a classless punk, and fragile, to say the least.

Kenny Ryan is built like a truck, and one of the classier guys in hockey. There's a reason you see so many "Ryan" jerseys at the WFCU to this day, both in red, white, and blue, and in blue and white.

Kenny is exactly the guy that you always talk about loving, that we need more of. Leader, winner, intangibles, effort..... Oh yeah, but I like him, so...... here comes the smear campaign.

it's pathetic. It really is.

Rarely in the lineup, and when he is, gets minimal playing time.

What in saying he is a 4th liner, perhaps a 3rd line player at best is a smear campaign? That's where he is projected to play in the NHL if he makes it. I want my 2nd rd picks to have more upside, is this not the goal when drafting that high?

And really calling Armstrong a classless punk, was that really necessary?

The goal when drafting that high is to get an NHL player period.

Doubt you'll see Connolly on the Marlies at all. Fraser will be with the Leafs I think.

Ashton - Colborne - Abbott
Hamilton - McKegg - Deschamps
D'amigo - Zigomanis - Ryan
Ross - Acton - Scott
Devane

Ranger - Kostka
Mottau - Blacker
Syvret - Gysbers
Grimshaw

Rynnas
Owuya

It's crazy how decimated the Marlies lineup has gotten due to the NHL coming back. I don't mean to be a negative nancy, but I expect a severe fall from grace in the standings :s

PS - I hope this means D'amigo gets top 6 minutes. Love that kid.

I don't to be honest. losing Aucoin hurts but we got depth to make up for it. a lot of other good AHL teams lost players too

Losing Aucoin and likely Frattin and Kadri hurts the Marlies big time. That is a heck of a lot of skill taken out of the line-up. Not to mention Gardiner and likely another D-man or 2 and Scrivens.

The good news is that those guys (Aucoin aside) will be back with the Marlies for the playoffs, cause the Leafs aren't making the playoffs.

Will any of them be back? Won't they have to pass through waivers if they play out the season?

Well the way I see it, Rynnas easily replaces Scrivens and he's actually played better in the AHL this season, as well as they now have Owuya up who has great stats in the AHL over the last two years.

Aucoin will be missed, but I think Zigomanis can step up into that first or second line centre roll as he's been playing some wing on the lower lines. Kadri and Frattin, however, we'll obviously miss but Abbott has been looking like a great point producer for us and hopefully we get some more out of our other wingers in Ashton, Ross, Scott, and D'amigo.

As for the blue-line I think we're fine. Gardiner had been out awhile anyways and we were fine without him. I only see one (if even that) of Kostka/Fraser/Holzer sticking with the big club, and then we still have Blacker, Gysbers, and Ranger (I know he's currently injured hopefully it's not bad) on the backend which is what we've had most of the season.

But obviously yes we're going to miss a lot of the offense. We're essentially losing our top 3 point producers, (if Kostka and Kadri stick) so there will no doubt be a drop off in offensive production, but I think we'll just have to get a little tighter on D and kilgro makes a great point that other clubs will be hurting alongside us.

I mean not that OKC was even doing THAT well but they just lost the top two point producers in the league, along with Hall... Now THAT hurts lol.

The higher goal with the Marlies...

Is to develop players for the NHL.Colbourne,Ashton,D'Amigo,McKegg,Ross,Blacker,R ynnas,Ryan,Abbott etc. need top minutes to develop or to prove they don't have it at all.

Marlies still have a strong team, it'll come down to their goaltending. Can Rynnas sustain consistency? If not, can Owuya step up?

Aside from the big names, the Marlies will need the likes of Greg Scott and Jerry D'Amigo to step up now. Both of those players scored very well last year (40+pt seasons) and haven't had the same type of success so far. Some of that is due to being pushed down the depth chart.

Naturally, some players will excel with the extra ice-time so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. The depth on forward is still strong.

They still could get a few players back that are waiver-exempt from the Leafs.

Yea well said devo and JE. Also, as much as I would hate to see it, I fear Frattin gets sent down. Pretty sure he still doesn't have to clear waivers which makes him the easy guy to send down. Hope I'm wrong and they just cut/trade Steckel

Jon Abbott ‏@HockeyAbbs
Mike Mottau makes his #marlies debut, expected to play with Gysbers. Yeo-Blacker, Syvret-Grimshaw

These aren't Toronto prospects are they? ECHL try outs?

Yea I think so. I hope blacker during this time tries to make his mark, we need him to bring out his games, enough flashes of his game.

Why did Aucoin go through waivers? Why even give him a tryout I think it's been proven he cant produce at the NHL level.

dumb move IMO losing a guy like that for a little reason.
