I don't really want him back, but I wish we would have gotten a return on Brad Richards instead of letting him walk for free. Could have gotten a first round pick and a couple prospects for him at the absolute least

Glencross. Mostly because everyone else was traded before they had a chance to walk as UFAs, though Glencross would be great to have.

Honestly... nothing is coming to mind... but I'd be happy to have Stoll and Green back.

In order...

1. Olli Jokinen (2012) - Letting him walk left the Flames with zero center depth and Jokinen IMO would be a perfect fit under Hartley.
2. Mike Cammalleri (2009) - Puts up a career high in goals and points in his first year with the Flames and they let him walk away.
3. Chris Higgins (2010) - He never played much once we traded for him due to injury, but he was all over the place and creating all kinds of havoc, he is the perfect complimentary player.
4. Daymond Langkow (2011) - Allowing him to walk started creating big holes down the middle.
5. Vesa Toskala (2010) - We could have been saved from the Karlsson experiment. The guy was brutal, at least Vesa in his limited time got us a couple wins. He also put up some decent numbers.

We traded Langkow, we didnt let him walk.

For me it would be Todd Bertuzzi

I agree on Marian Hossa. Dude was awesome for us outside of the week of the Stanley Cup. I mean, the Wings have needed a scorer like that ever since he got swiped by Chicago.

Other than that, the Wings haven't really had a HUGE FA loss, every big time loss was a retirement.

I suppose you could say Brad Stuart, just because he's always been a solid top-4 D at worst and the Wings can use all the talent on D they can muster.

Wasn't Stuart traded because he wanted to leave anyway ?

Gaborik, if we could somehow make it all work with the salary cap.

I mean, a top six of:

Parise - Koivu - Heatley
PMB - Granlund - Gaborik

Would be beyond dreamy. But oh well.

I'd have to go back nearly 12 years and say, Brett Hull. His departure essentially signaled the era of mediocrity- poor replacements, mediocre replacements, poor drafting, etc.- that we're still recovering from.

Yes and I hope he bounces back because the version of Brad Stuart that played for the Wings last year is pretty terrible and should not be more than a bottom pairing d-man. I always liked him in Detroit and feel bad about his family situation, but he was one of the Wings worst d-man all year and then hands down the worst in their very short playoff series.
