Wow you'd think Schneider is a proven number 1 goalie with no questions at all by reading this forum.

He's never been the number 1 for a full season, he's barely even played in the league meaning other players haven't found his weaknesses yet. Sure he has great character and looks like a good goalie but he is nowhere near the level of Luongo at this point.

There is a chance he has a drop off once he takes over number 1 full time, even if none of you will admit it and proclaim him amazing before he proves it.

Thank you, this is what I'm saying.

That's completely fair enough, I respect your opinion.

No, all the buzz is that NHL GMs don't even think Luongo is worth Bozak, Kadri + 2nd.

If other GMs still viewed Luongo as a can't miss franchise goalie, there'd be some real offers by now. Maybe they're wrong, but GMs around the league aren't showing a lot of confidence in Luongo right now.

Can't prove yourself without the opportunity.

Doesn't matter anyway. Every interview--whether pundit, Gillis, Luongo, Schneider, whoever--has made it clear the only one being shopped is Luongo. Discussing trading Schneider is pointless, there's pretty much zero chance it happens.

You never know how a guy is going to do until they are given the chance. What we do know is that Cory Schneider has killed it in every role we've given him. Killed it. Best save % through 70 games in NHL history, Jennings winner, dominated the AHL, dominated college.

There is a chance his play slips, no question. There is also a chance he keeps killing it in that role. I don't know how anyone can watch them play and say Lu is better at this point. Schneider is every bit as technical and he's a better athlete than Lu.

In terms of goaltending skill there is no doubt Schneider is at the very least Luongo's equal...the only reason he isn't "near the level of Luongo" is because he hasn't played in the NHL for 12 seasons.

Schneider may not be the same proven commodity as Luongo, but he's not the same age, doesn't have the same lengthy contract and doesn't have the same baggage. Trading Luongo might turn out to be the biggest mistake Gillis ever makes, but IMO its one he's pretty much forced to make now so people better get on board.

I don't think this decision was made on one 5 game series.

If the Canucks didn't think Schneider was the better goalie right now he would be traded. He was noticeably better than Luongo last season and it's easy to see why management is looking to send off the older, slower netminder.

I think this is pretty unfair unless you mean career-wise.

So because he's never been a #1, we shouldn't try him?....

What's the point of drafting players then? Why do you change your name to RNH fan? He hasn't played a full season and isn't nowhere near the same level as Henrik Sedin.
