Gillis really pulled one off here. He still blew it with Luongo but I am loving our GM.

Sedins? No.

Bieksa no.

Totally forgot about Garrison though and misremembered Hammer.

So 5 year max for re-signing.

I am very jealous with the way Vancouver runs their team, world class management.

He was thinking I better get my client signed to a lucrative contract before he goes down with a major back injury.

While it would be nice to keep it hidden, surely Edler doesn't want to hold off. Sign it when it's done.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I think they know their finances a bit better then anyone here.

Gillis signs him to an amazing deal, then tweets the news himself before TSN, etc. Boss.

Gillis must believe Edler like many others believe, is the only #1 on our team. We have comparable players who are good complimentary D but no stand outs past Eddie.
Hopefully he brings back the Playoff Eddie we saw against LA the first time we met in the 1st Round.

On the Ballard comment of trading, the Isles suspended Lubo and have picked up 2 waiver wire D who are both cheap options. Though I see Ballard being used to acquire a good but overpaid forward who can fill a role.

Yeah, me too. Then Zajac signed for 5.75 a season. Oh well. The Canucks brought the NHL back in line with this deal. Great deal for both sides.

Or maybe... and this sounds crazy.. maybe he wanted to take a DISCOUNT to remain on a contending team.

MDZ was also a very good deal. The Rangers are no slackers when it comes to maintaining personnel.

Only have 3.9 mill left in salary cap to sign 9 players for next year. Safe to say Ballard and Louongo will be out the door sooner rather than later. 9.5 mill more in cap space right there.

Au revoir David Booth.

Par for the course, how can I find something critical to say?

I think that's fair value for Edler.

It's a hilariously expensive defense next year for the Canucks though.
