Gomez would be so amazing on the third line in terms of puck possession, Galiardi and Wingles can handle the scoring and will likely benefit from having Scott Gomez as a passer. Hard to believe that no one wants him considering he could be had for cheap.

He also wouldn't have the same pressure one him like he did in NY and MON. Don't really care what the cap hit is as long as it's a 1 year deal. It adds much much needed depth. He has 2 Stanley Cups (right up DW's alley heh) and despite his lack of skill to score goals, he's an upgrade over anyone in our bottom 6.

If he signs here, this will be the bottom 6 IMO:

Galiardi-Gomez-Wingels
Desjardins-Handzus-Burish
Sheppard

Handzus should be the 7th man but who knows with #KoalaLogic.

LOL Sheppard still can't crack an NHL lineup.

Gomez's shot makes Vlasic's shot look like Weber.

That would be sweet to pick up Gomez and another player. My only problem with this team is depth, and if they can have a few guys with decent third line upside for this season, like Gomez, Wingels, Handzus, and maybe Moore, I would feel so much more comfortable.

Gomez 2 years, 2M total
Sturm 1 year, 700K

Galiardi-Gomez-Sturm third line

do it.

Well, i'd rather have current and better players. Given that they are not available and or a deal can't / won't be made... I don't think i'd mind Gomez for the reasons stated by others, if we was cheap. I'd like to see us add another player also, perhaps Tim Connolly. Both would provide for scoring and overall team depth. In shortened season where injuries will happen, we can't afford to be impacted by any injuries as we're a marginal playoff team anyway.

Well, i'm still thinking that Sheppard needs to play and recover more of his game to get back into the NHL. 30+ AHL games over what 2.5 years, is not enough to prove to me he's NHL ready yet. I'm ok with him playing the rest of the season in the AHL, with maybe a few games in the show.

Sturm is broken. I watched him trying to make it onto the canucks last year and it was so sad. He was a shadow of his former self.

Marco is my all time favorite player, but he just doesn't have it anymore

I hope we sign him.

He can be our Zito, getting paid 7.5M and underperforming, then he'll score a game 7 overtime goal in the finals.

just looking at the numbers he seems like a good sharks pick up. he will be a key link in sustained offensive zone pressure for our bottom six, something we didnt have last year, except maybe wingels/winnik.

it seems obvious that a lot of pressure/responsibility is being put on TJ/Wingels to score goals if they are relying on handzus/desjardins/possibly gomez in the pivot.

I'd sign him considering it costs basically nothing and if it doesn't work out then we just cut him loose.

If I were an unbiased FA, SJ would definitely get the nod...unless he's really into Disneyland

Real_ESPNLeBrun 8:16am via Twitter for BlackBerry« Scott Gomez slated to meet with Sharks this weekend as both sides explore whether there's a fit. Larry Robinson connection is key.
