Thanks for the update. I heard his play picked a bit after the first. I expect a 8g 12a season for I would be ecstatic S long as he's playing physical as well. Kid can do it!!!

If Schoeder plays well with Raymond and Kassian. Then there is no need to trade Luongo unless a true top player or propect is coming back. When Kesler comes back put him with Higgins and Hansen and drop Lapierre to forth line Center. Booth still has not proven anything yet but when he comes back he could replace Kassian if his play is not up to snuff. The way Kesler plays he is better suited to a shut down line that chips in. Do not expect huge numbers just great two way play. Raymond is a very good defensive forward so is better with Schoeder than Booth is. Also Kassian is a good addition to that line to keep abuse down to an acceptable level.

SSB
Higgins Kesler Hansen
Raymond Schoeder Kassian
Weise Lappierre Malhortra

i guess Booth drops Kassian down the depth chart but i would like Kassian to play well and take that spot. It all depends on Schoeder but if the posters are right he would be a better defensive option than Hodgson while putting up some offense. With the 2nd and 4th shutdown lines surely we can have a bit of offensive flair on the 3rd line. I am feeling much better about the squad now than yesterday. One scrimage i know, but Schoeder and Raymond will not be dominated by other teams 2nd lines and 3rd lines IMO. With Kesler back and Schoeder playing well this is a better team then last year. Garrison is a major upgrade on D and the goaltending with both will be excellent.

Before i was one of the many saying trade Luongo as we need forward help. Now i see an overload of third line options. So now we need a reason to trade Luongo. Which is only part of a package to bring a top line forward(for the second line), not depth. The Canucks have enough depth all they need is one more top forward. Right now when one of the Sedins or Kesler go down the Canucks are done. If they had one more top end threat they could win with an injury, as it is without an injury to the big three the Canucks have a good chance this year

The Bozak return is all rumored and unconfirmed.

Not to mention, these are two completely different players. Gomez is done. Finished. He's a lazy older player who was clearly out for the big paycheque, and that's all.

As much as I don't like Bozak as a return for Luongo - I can't sit here and throw him in the same category or even below a guy like Scott Gomez. Bozak did put up 47 points last year, Gomez had an absolutely atrocious year. Just awful.

I would like to the see the following opening day roster:

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Higgins Lapierre Hansen
Raymond Schroeder Kassian
Volpatti Malhotra Weise

Ebbett
Vandermeer

Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Edler
Ballard Tanev
Barker

Schneider
Loungo

upon return of Kesler and Booth

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Higgins Kesler Hansen
Raymond Schroeder Kassian
Booth Malhotra Lapierre

Ebbett
Weise

Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Edler
Ballard Tanev

Vandermeer

Schneider
Luongo

With the above lineup we have chemistry on the 1st line, chemistry on the second line with great shutdown ability. Speed, scoring and grit on the 3rd line and Defensive prowess along with speed and intensity on the 4th line. If certain players are struggling it would be easy to make in game adjustments and move players up and down lines, without putting them in awkward spots.

Even where he's been the last few years he's a plus possession player who, before last season, racked up some primary assists. At a cut-rate deal he's a useful NHLer. If he's motivated, maybe even better.

Gillis isn't going to bring in a guy that's out of shape imo and something tells me the lockout hasn't helped Gomez defeat that 2nd chin.

With Edler resigned...

1- Buyout Booth and Ballard this offseason
2- Trade Lu for a bonified 2nd liner+ a pick/prospect, hopefully Kassian/Jensen have good years...
3 - ?????
4 - Stanley Cup!!!!

Is it too early for Gillis to extend the Sedins? Seems like low lying fruit to me (not to take Henrik or Daniel for granted). 3 more years matches Burrows, 5 more years matches Edler.

Yes. They can't start negotiating until next July.

On an unrelated note, I don't understand why everyone wants to buy out Booth? Assuming we trade Luongo and Ballard there shouldn't be any need to buy him out. We're in a prime cap position for the foreseeable future.

The problem with Booth is his penchant for injuries. He has a big contract and he consumes a top 6 roster spot but he is injured as much as not.

True his latest injury appears to be "self-inficted" but its tough to avoid a deliberate "knee-on-knee" or somebody head hunting you. Those weren't accidents or bad luck, but deliberate intents to injure.

I know! This team needs offensive players and if there is one thing Gomez can do it's put the biscuit in the basket!

Not if he's in terrible shape. Maybe the Canucks did some investigating and found out Gomez didn't train during this long layoff?

No idea if the Canucks inquired about Gomez or not(I assume they probably did), but apparently Gomez does not want to sign with a big hockey market after his time in Montreal. Would rather be somewhere he can fly under the radar. My guess is that he lands in Anaheim, they have a need for another top 6 center and he would get an opportunity to play alongside some talented line mates.
