Surely can't be any worse than those games up in Canada where he joined the team...

I'd rather Eakin and Smith be together even if it is technically the 4th line. They'll get some minutes ... probably the same as the reported 3rd line.

That goes against what happened last year obviously, but I think the schedule will force the coaches hand.

Kari the starter, obviously.

Rome questionable via Heika.

Going to be interested to see how the minutes break down. If Gulutzan really rolls 4 lines and gives the "4th line" as much as the 3rd, it's not a problem.

Quote:
Loui Eriksson-Derek Roy-Jaromir Jagr

Ray Whitney-Tom Wandell-Michael Ryder

Brenden Morrow-Vern Fiddler-Eric Nystrom

Ryan Garbutt-Cody Eakin-Reilly Smith.

Alex Goligoski-Stephane Robidas

Jordie Benn-Trevor Daley

Brenden Dillon-Philip Larsen
Same thing with the D. If Gulutzan rolls 3 pairs and each pairing gets equal ES minutes, no problem. If Larsen only gets 12 minutes a night though, I'm going to be really mad.

I can not wait until the day that we never have to see Robidas or Morrow in our line up.

I'm not worried about Larsen. Gully was already playing 17 minutes a game down the stretch last season. We know he trusts the guy. The hump I'm worried about is does he still force feed Robidas on the first PP unit. That looks like that won't change.

Morrow I'll give one more chance. Robidas though? No way in hell. He's not even good enough for the AHL.

Noticed Whitney got an "A" (big fan of Ray). Any word on how your "A"s will rotate this season? I thought they'd only be Eriksson and Robidas.

The Stars typically have 2 As at home and then 2 different ones on the road.

It'll be Benn/Eriksson/Whitney/Robidas.

Dallas likely jumps to 19th or 20th when Benn signs.

I'd bet we see Dallas jump another 5 spots at least after next summer.

Free agency..doesn't seem to be many guys worth signing in July.

well this is going to be some battle on opening night. Even without Benn I see the Stars walking away with the points if they can a) stay disciplined and b) Kari has a strong game the first night back. This is likely 2 points they'll need looking ahead to the schedule the first 15 games.

I don't want to derail the GDT, but I do think Dallas will be one of the few teams in a position to pay Getzlaf and Perry fair contracts and keep the duo together since the cap is going down.

Now ... Anaheim can as well, and I think there's a damn good chance they remain Ducks, but until that happens there's at least that small possibility.

Crosby's contract averages $10.8 million in his first 8 years.

Parise's contract averages $10 million in his first 8 years.

Brad Richard's contract averages $9.5 million in his first 6 years (Last 3 years only pay $3 million total).

Without the ability to artificially lower cap hits, I think you will see guys get paid slightly less than they would have.

The thing Dallas will have to decide is if they feel comfortable committing a huge portion of their cap to two players. Getzlaf's numbers are trending the wrong direction, and he seems like he could be the classic example of having already peaked. Perry on the other hand has been fairly consistent above 30 goals. That said, do you want to commit the money to him or role the dice on a guy like Brett Ritchie already in the system?

It is definitely interesting to thing about them in the lineup, but there are quite a few concerns. Unfortunately, these are pretty much the two best prices in free agency. Everyone else is a step below IMO. If you want to make a big move in free agency, this is it. Edler signing last night was a real bummer.

For last season, yes. They've been listening to fan input, and I don't think many people were on board with this.

Hopefully we'll hear a new one three or four times tonight.
