For as horrible as he is as color commentator, I've realized that I (and the rest of you guys here) know enough hockey that the color commentator is redundant. As such, the comedic element is appreciated.
5 games to bag time? Ah well, this is the time to be hopeful. It's a new season...well half a season. The long offseason this year will make next summer fly by. Go Isles!
Its going to be a long year (or well half a year). Please Isles impress the heck out of me tonight and give me some hope that we may compete this year. We usually get off to good starts. Hopefully this year will be the same.
Definitely disappointed with the way this lineup turned out, but I still can't wait for tonight. Good to have Isles hockey back. Awesome GDT Law.
I don't like seeing these old waiver pickups taking spots from younger guys that have shown they are ready (Ullstrom and Cizikas)... But if Aucoin is going to take the spot of Reasoner, then i have no problem with it...
I work over by the coliseum and as I was driving out at like 8:45am there was already a few cars with people tailgating inbetween the Marriott and the box office.. I was a little surprised considering like I said it was before 9am haha either way if those guys are any of you I tip my hat you crazy SOB's...
I root for the Isles against anyone OTHER than New Jersey, so I'm on the other side tonight, but I wish you guys luck and that it's a (much deserved) great home opener.

I don't like it when the kids aren't clearly better than hacks and waiver pickups, but if they aren't ready, they aren't ready. I think both Cizikas and Ullstrom are ready though. I expect them both on the team all year. If everyone's healthy, I can see Cizikas being sent to BP and Aucoin-Reasoner-Boulton splitting time with Martin on the 4th line.
Either way, great to have hockey back, Law back, the GDT he puts together are usually better than the games. But this is a new year, smells of hope.
I don't think Jersey will be very good this year, I believe they will take a step back, especially with Brodeur a year older, no Parise but who are we kidding, the Isles will lose to every team in the NHL, on PAPER. That's why they play.
Moulson will score the first goal, on the PP, assists to Tavares and Streit, the Swiss connection.
I'm probably the only fan who's looking forward to watching Martinek! I think he'll be an important player for this team, with his vet leadership and versatility. Also, interested to see Boyes, hopefully he brings consistent effort and some compete!

Wow. Not bad, actually. That's better than last year.
Long time lurker, long time Isles fan. Excited about the season, but still too many pieces away from the playoffs. I notice a lot of chatter about our defense, but I find it odd that there isn't as much talk about our scoring - considering we finished tied for last in the Eastern Conference in scoring last year. If Grabs, Bailey (when he gets back), Okposo and Boyes can find some scoring consistency we might be a playoff threat.
Hopefully tonight we avoid a home-opener shutout.
Isles win 4-2. JT, KO, and Ullstrom with the goals. Streit adds an empty-netter FTW.
