Coatsey just said that the C in hockey is the most important C in sports. That's so wrong I don't know where to start.
Of course. Take away the "c" from hockey and you have nothing. Take the c out of baseball, basketball, football, swimming, tennis, etc. and nothing changes. They'll still be baseball, basketball, football, swimming, tennis, et.
I say this not to be a beer snob, but to hook you up with knowledge. This is what real beer drinkers drink. You go the sweet / dark route with Belgian ales or you go bitter and hit the best stouts.
Once you go this direction: That watered down nonsense is only acceptable when there is no alternative: In which case Sam Adams Cherry is fine, as are Blue Moon, and Fransizkaner -- even "Hoe" garden, which is watery ale.
However, any true beer bar will have Chimay on tap.

Allagash White craps all over Hoegaarden, Blue Moon, and most of those other weiss/witbiers. Hitachino Nest White Ale is delicious, too. There are some delicious mildly hoppy lagers around, though. Samuel Smith Organic Lager, for instance. There are more great beers than just Belgian Strong Ales and stouts. Sometimes you need a refreshing beer to pair with food, or you need something of moderate ABV, because it's time to get into a serious session with the boys.
