Safe choice - Daniel Sedin.
Off the Board choice - Jason Garrison.
This.

Seriously, that was my actual pick.

First games start at 9:00pm our time, Canucks on at 4:00am.
Quadruple-header is an option - but at the risk of falling asleep during the most important game...

I have to change this stupid living in a wrong timezone thing. Like really.

Oh, and first goal of the year: Alex Edler. No doubt about it.

He didn't get signed so he reentered the draft and was picked by the Ducks. In the 3rd round, IIRC. Been playing in the AHL this fall and put up fairly good numbers. Surprised to see him in the lineup, though. First Danish goalie in NHL.

I'd be a little more excited to watch this game if Schroeder were playing. That lineup is ugly.

Ebbett scores.

Happy to have hockey back!

BTW, the OP has Perry at center instead of Getzlaf, but you guys probably already know that's wrong. Go Ducks!

He's our backup to begin the season because they wanted to give Viktor Fasth, who's going to be our regular backup, some games in the AHL to warm him up. I believe he hadn't played an actual game in a while, due to an injury, iirc. Andersen's been pretty good in the AHL, despite the Ads being near the bottom of their conference.

That's the first time I've heard shoddy goaltending used in conjunction with Jonas Hiller. Aside from his vertigo problems, which are in the past, he's been one of the better, and more consistent goaltenders since coming into the league.

I don't really care who wins. The important thing is all the players go out have fun and enjoy themselves!

Ebbett with the first goal of the season. Instant HF meltdown follows.

Would've picked MayRay, but, he's used up his first month's quota of goals... so it's gotta be Kassian.

They're not 6 years old. The only fun thing is winning.

Man. I thought living in the Atlantic Canadian time zone was bad for being a fan but you sir have shown me up.

Keep it up.

A GDT. *wipes away single manly tear of joy*

So stoked. Have to do laundry to all my Canucks gear is clean before heading to the bar.

Much beer. Much chicken wings. Much hockey. Life is good.

No idea whatsoever what's going to happen on the ice. 3-2 Canucks?

Haha, I am in the exact same situation. Also, it's a keeper pool and we have a cap, and I'm about $.200m away from that with Benn penciled in at $6.5m salary for this season. Starting to get nervous he'll go north of that and I'll be forced to emergency dump someone.

If we lose, I'm blaming it on the fact that no one made new avatars for the new season

..... and Ballard
