Can't wait for the justification of that old, beloved tradition of blowing cheap, brightly coloured plastic horns for 90 mins a game.

SOuth Africa and Algeria played a friendly today, drew 0-0
Quite a physical game for a friendly, just before a tournament
Both teams had their chances but were unable to finish

I'm picking Côte d’Ivoire. Yes, I wrote Côte d’Ivoire because it sounds cooler than Ivory Coast.
Does Kevin-Prince "Too much sex with Italian Supermodel" Boateng still play for Ghana?

No KPB retired from international play though he is open to return if Ghana qualify for the World Cup
Ivory Coast always seem find a way to choke, they got a tough group too this time but they still must be the main favorites. I think Ghana has been on the decline since 2010 but they are always a threat. Nigeria could make some noise as well. Not sure about Morocco, good team on paper but were so disappointing in the last AFCON

usually in Europe, EuroSport show all the matches and in England ITV show some matches, for Americans all the matches will be on ESPN3

Man I wish Belfodi was available for the African Cup
(He just got eligible to play with Algeria, but coach Vahid didnt want to mess up the team chemistry by adding a new player right before the tournament, which is a good decision IMO)

speaking of squads, all the teams have named their official 23 few days ago
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Af...Nations_squads
Ethiopia have a NASL (USA second division) player
They also only have one European based player, playing in Sweden
Congo DR have some nice players on their squad but seem to have the same problems as Senegal in 2012, unbalanced, only 5 midfielders but many forwards

Burkina Faso has an underrated team. Probably not a winning team, but there some good players here for an upset (Pitroipa, Traore, Koné, Kaboré, Ouattara...).
Without the Ayew brothers, Ghana seems really weak offensively.
Morocco is a decent team too. Belhanda is one of the best players in the competition and when you add El Arabi, Belghazouani, Benatia, Chafni, El Kaoutari, etc...
Obviously, no team can rival Ivory Coast's ridiculous depth.

Cote d'Ivoire is deep, but the have strong egos too
And their coach Lamouchi is a bit of a softie; at least Vahid used to set them straight
We elminated them in the 2010 ACN, and we beat them with an average roster TBH

Lamouchi is extremely bright and is a great tactical guy.
Now can he take care of egos I don't know. He's new to the job.

poor match, I can see why South Africa can't even beat teams like Ethiopia at home in World Cup qualifying, they have zero creativity. Cape Verde had the best chances in this match but couldn't capitalize on them

Belhanda not starting
Assaidi is such a strange player. First, makes a superb run dribbling straight through Angola defense, then gets in on goal and skies the shot. Sometimes dynamite, sometimes less than.
