Scrivens is 26, so really he isn't much of a prospect. If anytime is the time to give him a shot..it is this year.
I'm not arguing he's too young, but that he's too inexperienced to be slated in as the starting goalie, which is how the media in Toronto is treating the starter of the home opener. Absolutely he's ready to play in the NHL, but I'm saying they keep fast-tracking good goalie prospects into the spotlight, instead of breaking them in as backups for a few years. Scrivens is 26, but he hasn't played that much elite level hockey along the way. I just think they're putting more focus and pressure on him than they need to.
