if you dont like bryz, then why are you rooting for the flyers? deal with it or dont root for the flyers.
I really hate when people use that line of reasoning. It's just so ridiculous. People use it all the time not just in sports, but things like tv shows they like, the country they live in, etc.
Shame because I agree with everything else. The position is extremely volatile and the vast majority of good, proven goaltenders were rarely good for more than a few seasons prior or a few seasons after, making ending up with one largely a factor of luck.
Most good goalies at any given time are either Mike Smith (now) or Steve Mason (a few years ago). Everyone knows Mason's story, but Smith's is even more common. A few years ago the guy barely had a job, and look where he is now.
Again, this unpredictability is how it goes for nearly every athlete who has success at this position. So it's foolish to talk about what management should do as if it's ever an obvious choice.
Signing Bryz wasn't a guaranteed homerun, but almost zero goaltender signings ever are. I think it's easily a double and probably a triple.
what are you going to do if they dont get rid of him? it's team game, if you are so high on goalies then why root for this team then, if you dont like bryz, then why are you rooting for the flyers? deal with it or dont root for the flyers.
That's like saying "Don't like the Shelley signing? Don't root for the Flyers!"
"Don't like Briere's defensive abilities? Don't root for the Flyers!"
Couldn't agree more. You can easily root for a team and not like some of the players, nothing wrong with that. And I'd argue that by rooting for the team, you are "dealing with it".

you are not allowed to ***** and moan about anything about the Flyers after posting this. You have done your fair share of *****ing and now when someone else says they dont like something you open your mouth.
hilarious.

"Don't like Lavi or think the team is doomed to fail? Don't root for the Flyers!"
Sure Bryz is an expensive backup, but I'm tired of having a sieve in net for the past 20 years. Trade with the Kings again for a decent goalie this time. They'll be looking to ship him this year.

predicting failure & openly rooting for failure are not the same as "i don't like Shelley" or "i don't like Briere"
openly rooting for them to take bad penalties, openly rooting for them to have turnovers, predicting they'll leave 5 men wide open in a game, predicting they'll cost the Flyers 3 goals against in a game, is not the same as "i don't like him"
and that's what some Flyers fans do here: openly root for Bryz to fail, & predict doom and gloom. totally different from simply not liking him or his contract.
ridiculous, in my view, to be a Flyers fan, then root against / predict doom and gloom for players on your "favorite" team. but, to each his own.

with that, i'm done worrying about last year or the Flyers fans who root against therir players . BRING ON 2013 & LET'S GO FLYERS !!!

Yeah, again...maybe 2 people at the most here openly root for failure. One of them because he's very concerned about the contract, because he's very concerned about the team. You act like there's a herd of people doing this.

Literally nobody has done this.

Again, 2 people. And I'd say it's actually intrinsically tied to his contract.

It's really easy to predict doom and gloom for players who have often brought the team doom and gloom.

I guess it's kind of messed up to root for a player to perform poorly just because you're convinced they're bad for the team in the long run. You still want what's best for the team but I think it's much more likely you just made a prediction, way back who-cares-when and would like to be able to tell people I told you so. It's kind of like 9/11 conspiracy theorists who got debunked, can't let it go, and would consider it "eye opening" if more people died. That prideful "I told you so" stuff is bad news.
Bryzgalov's first season with y'all, he took you to the second round and beat your biggest rival in a classic series, and that was with him playing lousy, and no Pronger either. If he plays even decent, it makes you guys a serious contender. As a Canucks fan I have to say, constantly ragging on your goalie(s) is a fool's errand, it brings nothing but ugliness and losing. Lay off the guy and roll with it.
