I don't feel so sad about losing Foligno now.

I wonder if MAK still thinks he's a bottom pairing defenceman...

I was very impressed by his play, given his size his skating is a lot faster than I thought it would be. Seems like the perfect person to play with and defend Karlsson, especially since he has a big target on his back now.

I thought Methot was the second best player on our team this afternoon after Anderson who kept us in the game early & often. He seems a good match to be with Karlsson.

I thought the Phillips/Gonchar tandem looked slow & old though, Maclean should consider breaking those two up. I would pair Wiercioch with Gonchar to create a second scoring pair & Phillips with Gryba to create a shutdown tandem who can kill a lot of penalty minutes together.

so you think 1 game is a sufficient sample size?

Well he wasn't the 2nd best player, not even close.

Karlsson obviously played a much much bigger role in the win.

Methot was not perfect in this game. Honestly he looked like Kuba with less offense and more physical. Guess it's easy playing with Erik Karlsson.

What does sample size have anything to do with it. You said he looked 2nd pairing today but he was our best defender. Methot stopped and blocked so much offensive chances against. He also physically imposed the likes of buffy and Wheeler when Karlsson was having a little trouble.

This is how I imagine the folks who thought "the Methot-Foligno deal was terrible" are going to feel about that opinion around Game 20:

I for one will probably take the high road and only bring it up once in a while in arguments against them, but I encourage others to follow their hearts on the matter and reference the deal as much as they see fit.

Didn't know much about Methot in Columbus, loved Foligno while he was here. So far the trade looks good.

I predict that Methot will have a hit count equal to the number of times Foligno falls down this season.

Why? Ultimately we all want the Sens to win.

If you're going to make it a competition though, Foligno scored tonight.

Sure, we absolutely do. I'm just sick of hearing from a vocal minority about the deal.

I want Methot's play to lead a select few posters to a cathartic moment that centers around two main ideas:

1) let the trade play out before you make a final verdict
2) TOI means dick-all.

Well he did look like a 2nd pair guy, not top pair. He might have been the best defenseman defensively but he still wasn't perfect in that regard. He played well, that doesn't mean he can sustain it over 48 games +.

And the Sens still gave up a defenseman of his caliber to free agency and traded Foligno to fill the hole. This doesn't change that.

I wasn't gonna say anything but Manked brought me up, and then RKL dragged it out.

Phillips seemed very slow. WIERCIOCH kept it simple and made his d plays with position but could not push people off the puck.Karlsson is all offence his d game is suspect

Loved the trade when it was done, love it even more today.

I liked how he uses his butt to hit players. Old school like Denis Potvin used to do.
