Ineptitude on offense. Stellar penalty kill. Awful power play. Lundqvist making ridiculous saves.

Yep, welcome back, Rangers hockey.

Dear 2013 Rangers,

As you may or may not be aware, the regular season started tonight.

Not going to read too much into it, because it's game 1. But they looked like exactly the same team they were for the second half of last season, with rustiness on top.

Worth noting, I guess, that Mitchell and Anisimov both have goals tonight

Most frustrating part is we still can't score a power play goal or even win a faceoff.

Penguins looked good tonight. The Rangers did not, they have less than 24 hours to change that.

Team was not in sync from the start...

I'll chalk it up to rust but that was definitely ugly, ugly.

Offense looked anemic. Can't let that fly. A loss against a great team isn't the end of the world though.

Well that sucked but considering it's 1st game, after an extended time off, with a short camp, and a somewhat revamped line up it was what I expected.

Doesn't really matter since we haven't figured out offense for the past 4 years

The last three dominant, cup contending Rangers teams ('92, '94 and '12) all lost opening night including twice to Boston.
