My brother bought me my first stick when we lived in Winnipeg..I was too little when we were in Montreal. He bought me a lefty stick and I specifically remember him saying it was going to be to my advantage. When we moved to the states and I played organized hockey it did give me an advantage for the most part except when I received a pass on my backhand playing right wing....took me a while to receive it properly. I liked playing right wing with a lefty shot though....

Really?? Well that's pretty interesting. That was always my defense growing up when all my right handed shooting buddies questioned my left handed hockey. It just seemed to make sense to have my dominant hand have the most control of my hockey stick. I'm going to look that up and email it to all of those dopes!

Scratch Edler off the list of potential D-Man additions next offseason. He re-signed long term with Vancouver.

edit: News broken by Gillis himself

Mike Gillis @GMMikeGillis

Quote:
I'd like to congratulate Alex Edler on agreeing to terms on a new multi-year deal. Details to follow.
edit 2: 6 year deal.

Want to see what the money is

Gillis was trying to sign him for 4.5m and Edler wanted 6m

I was quite frankly stunned to sign so cheaply. He easily gave away 6 million dollars today.

As a Flyers fan, it's quite disappointing because he was probably our best shot of improving the defense without losing some of our offensive depth. Oh well, congrats Canucks.

The more I ponder, the more I agree with Simmonds and a first. I hate Subban. But he's one of those guys you want on your team. Simmonds doesn't strike me as anything special. I like the guy and how he plays but that's not too bad a price to pay for Subban. Better than schenn couturier +...

I was born and raised in the U.S., and I use the same method.

I'm trying to think back and remember when I started playing LH--whether it was street hockey at home or organized ice hockey. I suspect I used one of the flat sticks as a little kid at home and ended up developing more skill with my dominant hand at the top of the stick--but I'll have to ask my father next time I see him.

Ihad a feeling Jagr would tear it up this year. 4.5 might look like a bargain.

Bob

Watched the Jackets game online tonight.....Really happy to see BOB win tonight in his debut. He stopped 32 of 34 shots and won it in the shoot out...I see Jags netted 2 tonight for Dallas.

Its only been one game, but they looked pretty darn fast tonight and played good team hockey....It would be nice to see them have a good year for sure after last years turmoil with Nash etc.

Ive been calling it for months, tonight didn't solidify anything for me. Defense is their strength, and Bob can be very good behind a strong D. Add in 4 lines of hard-nosed forwards...Columbus will be a tough earned victory for any team in the league this season.
