Yep... from literally the 1-0 goal I was rolling my eyes in anticipation of this. Every goal that's not a 3-on-0 is going to lead to this. I know that sports fans are, writ large, unable to apply the same standards of their own daily life to sports (thereby leading to mass stupidity), but it just makes me unable to enjoy the game when people have zero perspective.
Absolutely.
Until this is sorted, every bloody goal is going to be micro-analyzed, the fanboys on each side of the equation are going to have a field day, the media will do everything to fan the flames, and it's a joke. Never should have been allowed to happen.
Schneider is an outstanding goalie, and once everything is sorted we'll be fine. Or we'd be fine as well (in the regular season at least) if we ditched Schneider and kept Luongo. But having both is not going to work. It's a mess.
This is the sort of situation that becomes a massive distraction and destroys a season. Luongo has to go ASAP.

Even when Schneids struggles, Lou is blames!!!
I'm blaming the situation, not Luongo. He's handled this with as much class as possible. But this is a f***ing circus, and it's inexcusable that it hasn't been sorted yet.
Remember when the younger Rask stole the crease from the older Tim Thomas? Thomas stole it back and then Boston went on to win the cup with Thomas as the MVP.
Schneider will get every opportunity to prove himself as he should. It just might not be as smooth as everyone pretends it is whenever the backup plays well.
I think Vigneault lost the room some time last season, and even if he hasn't its time for a change, they guy never has them ready to start the season
I totally agree. I was so pissed offthat he wasn't fired after that last horrendous half of the season and then the collapse against the kings. I was so mad when MG extended him. Bring in quenneville.
This team is so horribly mismanaged, with this bottom 9 we're a lottery team, I don't care who's on our top line/back end
Actually the bottom 6 is just fine as they are jus that botom 6 players, but the 2nd line is the killer right now. That and size and no one has even acknowledged that yet... the team is undersized and the Ducks are throwing them around like rag dolls.

Will history repeat itself?
No, I don't think Thomas will win the Stanley Cup again.

The general feeling I got from the camp was just a case of indifference. Too much was made of the Luongo situation and not enough emphasis was made on the stuff on the ice IMO.
It shows in their careless, sloppy play.
If anything, this is a good wake up call to the boys that, "hey, the season is on right now and if you stumble out of the gates like always, then the playoffs may be out of reach when you come around."

I still want to know what Mason Raymond brings to this team.
Not unexpected. In the 6 years of the AV/Luongo era the team has had a sub .500 record in their first 10 games of the season but a .650+ record in the rest. Unfortunately there aren't going to be as many games to overcome a garbage start this season.
Yes, this is how I feel as well: This is expected.
Slow starts with AV/insert goalie/shoddy defensive play have come to be the norm here. This is not an overreaction. This is not about AV losing the room. This is par for the course: The Canucks start slow... every time out.

It'll be a circus regardless...there will be the inevitable 2nd guessers always complaining they traded the wrong guy. The Canuck's net is never going to be a peaceful place to make a living.

While I am far from jumping on the "Fire AV" bandwagon. If, and only if, we fall into an actual slump. Gillis needs to visit this very real possibility. Sometimes it does feel as AV has lost the room, but this could simply be a fluke poor start.
