They seemed to be out there a lot, so I think some of those worries that Glen wouldn't play those guys are assauged. If anything, my concern is if they're ready for the time they're getting. At times, I wasn't sure.
Man, hey, it was so nice to get 4 goals against Phoenix. Usually that team just completely stymies us. That really helped take the pressure off the defense a little. Last year, I kinda feel like we would be harping on J. Benn's big mistake a lot. Now you just get to shrug your head and say "oh well" cause we scored another. It's a better feeling.
First time Mike Smith has ever lost to us (in a Phoenix jersey) in regulation in his 10 games against us.
Also the first time we've beaten Phoenix in regulation since March of 2011 and just our 2nd since 2010.
I thought our 4th line was amazing. Just look back to the last 4 years.
They looked really good until a few late defensive draws in their own end, but that may mean nothing. Phoenix was pressing. Historically, when Phoenix presses all our guys wilt like little flowers. So, maybe this was actually a better than usual result.
I feel much better knowing they squeaked out a 4-3 win, as opposed to a 7-1 blowout or something. They faced a tough test, found themselves in a few holes but battled through it and walked away with the W.
I'd say those are more well-earned than an easy blowout, and will help them going forward.
Oh, and Jagr was an absolute beast, great to see.
If you're telekinetic and you know it, clap my hands!
