a) I'm a Rangers fan and I don't care about other teams' mistakes. That's their problem.

b) If the Rangers didn't draft Cherepanov and were worried about the transfer agreement, at least I'd understand that they'd be worried about Russian players not coming over. But they drafted him. Why wuss out now?

Oh and if Tarasenko decided to stay in the KHL I'd still applaud this pick. It would be a legit chance to take for a team starving for high end forward prospects. I don't want a bunch of cowards running this organization.

I never said the Rangers were worried about the transfer agreement. But this conversation is ridiculous. Cowards? What in the world are you talking about? All risks are calculated, which applies to all draft picks. If the Rangers management had concerns about Russian physical development, then that's that. It has nothing to do with being adverse to risk.

Grachev was taken before his death. Pashnin was taken in the last round.
You're right, I hope you stop flying on planes now because sometimes they crash.

It being Sather's prospect doesn't change the fact that it happened one time. So is he so mentally weak that he got so shell shocked into not taking a Russian with superstar potential over some glorified goon? Yes he did betray his fans. He didn't draft a potential superstar because he was a COWARD. That's not doing right by your shareholders.

What risk is calculated? The risk is 1 out of how many Russians in the KHL? Yes, cowards. He got gun shy because 1 prospect tragically died? That's what's ridiculous.

EVERY draft pick is a calculated risk. All I'm saying is that Sather's experience with his most important Russian prospect was part of the calculation.

Cowardice implies fear. Fear is an emotion. What I'm saying has nothing to do with emotion.

I really had no idea people viewed the world this way, although I shouldn't be surprised.

You're right. Going by one prospect dying in the KHL is going by calculated risk. Risk is calculated using probability. 1 KHL prospect dying implies a very small probability of it happening. Sather calculated risk wrong I guess.

Corey Schneider just gave up 2 goals in like 5 seconds, Luongo coming in. Too funny.

By the way, Cherepanov was the first Russian Sather ever took in the 1st round of the draft. Only the 9th he ever drafted, period, including in his years in Edmonton. He's only taken 2 guys in the second round (Tyutin and Anisimov). So 3 players in the top 2 rounds in all of his tenure. I think that Sather has always been adverse to Russians. The incident with Cherepanov just reinforced it.

Well good thing he took a defenseman with a low ceiling when our team's strength was defense. But hey, he's a good ole Canadian boy.

664th career goal for Teemu.

Man this has been a lopsided 2nd period.

At least Kreider had really good upside, not like McIlrath.

Wouldn't know from a) the replies b) the fact he scored a goal tonight c) I have no idea how good he is. So I just assumed.

I like how nhl.com now lists who drew the penalty, too.
