Mayfield played a season of USHL before attending college. By doing so he gave himself UFA status after completion of his Junior season at Denver. For the Isles to avoid a Jason Gregoire, Blake Kessel situation, they will need to lock him up after this season. He has progressed nicely anyway. Wouldn't be out of place one bit in Bridgeport, in fact if he gets an ATO at the end of the year, he'll easily be one of their better defenders.
Ness is what he is, his size is going to limit him. Its a factor at the AHL level, so you know it is going to be very hard to overcome at the NHL level.
Ineligable. He would have to have played a year in the USHL after his draft year to be eligable for the clause. He is our prospect till 30 day after his senior year.

Which is why I think this "loophole" is overblown. Its the same ****, the only difference is that the player is a junior and not a senior.
Brenden Kichton extended his point scoring streak to 11 games in the first period with a brilliant assist. They are going into the third period now, so if anything happens I'll update. Here's his 1st period assist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT9ihN348SE
Sure enough Brenden Kichton strikes again as his shot is deflected in. This goal tied the game at 3 with 5 minutes to go in the game. The game is now heading to Overtime.
What are the knocks on Kichton? 81 and 74 points in the two seasons prior to his impressive season statistically this year. Why don't we hear more about him?

Smallish.
Also people tend to dismiss prospects who were not drafted in their first year of eligibility.

I hope we sign him, but it may not happen.
Calvin De Haan will either be traded or in the NHL next year.
Matt Donovan will be in the NHL at some point next year if not this year. His Defensive game still needs work.
Nathan McIver, Ty Wishart and Jon Landry can all be released, but based on the coaching staffs camp invites, I have to believe Landry is our top AHL defenseman in their eyes, and that they will try to retain him.
We will likely try to sign, at minimum, Andrey Pedan, maybe Scott Mayfield.
Bottom line: Unless we deal Aaron Ness, I don't see room for Kichton.
Garf gets input from scouting staff and coaching staff at Bridgeport. But what do they know about these things...they should hire hf guys who say they attend all the BST games in person.
Watching video feed just doesn't count. You need to be there in person, like at Nascar and pro wrestling. Matt Donovan's needs match my hf notoriety and self-fulfillment needs, so ya. He shoulda been given the try-out. Nevermind what's best for him and the team long-term.
I've been watching the stars all my life, and I still couldn't tell you which constellation is which.
Donovan is an AHL all star. Landry is NOT. I don't give a fudge What Garth Says. His perennial last place teams, tell me all I need to know about him and his scouts evaluations.
Are you being serious? We drafted this kid like 6 months ago and is still very highly regarded.
Dead serious. Total bust. I've seen him play several times this year. Does nothing to show why he will ever even play in the NHL. Wouldn't have taken him in the 2nd round. Snow strikes again

I looked back at your posting history, and have never seen you post a scouting report or comment on a junior prospects abilities before today. For Reinhart, or any other player. While your posts are pithy, this one doesn't fit the rest...
Could you please color in your comments? Saying he does nothing to show NHL ability is hopefully hyperbole. Just by lacing up skates he has NHL size. And his slap shot is a monster. He has also had only 6 games this year where he was a minus...
