And the constant and false comparisons of him and Bure. Give me a break. Not even remotely in the same realm as Bure. He's as close to Bure as RNH is to Gretzky.
But RNH is gretzky 2.0 and will lead the oilers to 8 cups.

I agree with you. There should be but I don't think we have enough time to find that middle ground. As a neutral there's nothing more boring than the trap. As a fan of the Canucks, I just want to see them win, the style in which it's done be damned.

I seriously think we need to strengthen our 2nd line and the team needs to pick it up.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Raymond-Schroeder-Kassian (This line would do so much better with Schroeder)
Higgins-Malhotra-Hansen
Volpatti-Lapierre-Weise

I dont disagree with this, but im torn, if we are in fact dedicated to schneider it sends a bad message to give him the first game of the season, then go back to roberto after one bad start, especially if roberto plays well, i just wonder how that would effect a young goal tenders mindset. I cant screw up, cause if i do, im F'd, roberto will have a chance to win his job back, and i just signed a new contract here. Blake price was really fueling this post game saying did schneiders tenure as a number 1 last one period! (talk about overreaction and thank god hes not a coach).

But I also agree with your point.

This is such a tough situation, i understand gillis cannot give roberto away, but this situation could also have a negative effect.

The same goes for roberto, if we went with roberto we cant continue to have him saying to himself one bad game and i may loose my starting job. I think the pressure it puts on our guys becomes overwhelming from game to game.

Schneider looked extremely nervous, I did not even think he looked that nervous vs game 6 against the hawks. And i think he knows a bad start to the season and his future may be uncertain.

Somehow i think they need a team meeting with roberto and schneider, and say who they are going with. If roberto does want out, then schneider should be told even if you have bad games your not going to loose your job. Your our guy this season and next even if roberto does outplay you. Maybe they did do that, but it did not seem like it. Seems like roberto is still a big part of the team this season or until hes traded.

And vice versa if the decision was ever made to go with roberto and he decided hed rather stay.

It's even worse that I had to check if the math added up!

Ugh, I just realized that we are playing the young oilers with all their youth and young players that we will have to hear the commentators talk about continuously.

and if they score while they are down then they will be young players who never give up because they are young and you can't make young player quit.

Then it's back to anaheim for another 60 minutes of selanne worship.

sigh.

What about trying a Burrows - Lapierre - Hansen line?

and possible Kassian or Higgins with the Sedins?

I'd probably keep Lapierre on the third line. I don't think Malhotra will help Hansen/Higgins much; hell, he was bringing Weise and Volpatti down... as sad as that sounds.

The only thing that worries me is schneiders bounce back game will be against a fired up oilers who can score. If our d is bad, this wont be an ideal bounce back game.

-74.

You forgot to account for his end to end rush deking out every oiler twice then shattering dubnyks soul with the most breathtaking move ever seen in the NHL.

Then he will blow out his knee.

Agreed. I much rather see Schroeder there. Give him a shot, Ebs has proven that he will never prove himself as a true NHLer. He was less than impressive.

Stop daydreaming.

The rest looks good though.
Strange things happen, I think Ballard will punch the puck at the net (because he's stupid), the opposing goalie making the save, Weise slapping the rebound off the post and that rebound rebounds off Volpatti's left testicle into the net. Realistically it should be Weises' goal, but strange things happen...

Anyone really have faith in AV to switch seamlessly to the trap then abandon it when Kesler and booth are back?

I think we need a dose of positive energy.

Best part of the night was comments post game from lou and schneider.

Luongo "should have had both those goals. In general I felt pretty good seeing the puck. Now if only Teemu could retire, we'd be all set."

Luongo on Schneider "the kid is so strong mentally. It's only one game. He's going to have no problem bouncing back." @VanCanucks

Schneider "I'll just put my head down, work my butt off and fix any mistakes I made." #Canucks

The one positive lou still being here, is he is a great influence on schneider regarding adversity.
