Hahaha Devils you need a goalie bigtime. Your freaking goalies are both 40 years old. Ben Bishop is an NHL goalie, and you'd be lucky to get him. Keep your defenceman.
Yeah I'm not sure where people are going with this.
Nobody in their right mind would trade Lehner for Larsson straight up. Lehner is on the track to be the NHL's next superstar goalie and is ready for the spotlight already (if it weren't for his 2-way and the fact that Anderson is pretty decent).
Devils fans shouldn't even bother to reply when a proposal involves a goalie prospect...
Larsson was playing 22 minutes per game at 18 before he got injured.
Zidlicky coming from Minny aside, Larsson, again, was hands down the most productive Devils defence-man. He had 18 pts in 65 games. 2nd was Fayne with 17 in 82.
Larsson has a fair chance to be in the next few seasons a special player, a true #1 franchise defence-man.
Just proposing Larsson straight up for Lehner is already perplexing, to say Larsson wouldn't worth it, is downright outrageous.

We might. But right now, no we don't need them. For better or worse, Brodeur and Hedberg are both signed through the end of 2013-2014. It's not like we have a choice there. Combine that with the fact that we have four prospect goalies right now in the pro level (Frazee and Kinkaid in Albany, Wedgewood in Trenton, and Clermont in Elmira). There is no room to add another goalie, either prospect or NHL goalie.
The Devils will likely let this play out and see if just one of the guys are ready for spot NHL duty, while signing a UFA to tandem with them in 2014. Is it the best scenario? Who knows, but that's the way it's going to play out, barring some monumental collapse by both Hedberg and Brodeur.
One Senators fan explained it. The Senators need Lehner as a franchise goalie more than they need Larsson with Karlsson, Weircoich, Methot, and Cowen.
It's Wiercioch (no worries even Sens fans get it wrong)
And there's also 2 guys named Cody Ceci and Mikael Vikstrand that we are very high on. Vikstrand was a 7th rounder last year but he is breaking out this year in a noticeable fashion
Some Sens fans panic about our actual defense but our future on defense is very well set.
The only thing the Sens can achieve with trades now is to acquire short term gaps or get high end talent (like the Nash trade for ex)

I don't know, it might be a lot closer than you think... Most Sens fans consider Lehner as our top prospect easily; over Silfverberg, Zibanejad, Stone, Noesen, Ceci, etc.
Carey Price had a lot of value before he came to the NHL, no? Lehner is doing what Carey Price did, but better. He's just not as hyped as Price was (5th overall, by the Habs, Canadian junior teams)
Anyway both Lehner and Larsson are "untouchables" for their teams. They want to build around them, not trade them.
If you guys are considering Wedgewood and Kinkaid your future, it doesn't look too bright.
Well, about 75% of the predictions last year had the Devils missing the playoffs. In the end we were two wins away from the cup. Maybe our future is brighter than you think.

I was close enough, I only missed it by two letters.

Kinkaid is a hell of a goaltender. Very underrated, Wedgewood had a lot of hype around him from the WJC, but a lot of Trenton fans and beat writers have been raving about his play, you will be hearing a lot from them in the near future.
I've watched like 10 AHL games, and Kinkaid stands on his head time and time again for what was a pretty weak Albany team. He's kept them in games they had absolutely no business being in. There was one point where he had a losing record with a ~2.1GAA and over a .910SV%.
His stats right now for Albany, which is 15-14-1-7, are 12-8-3 with a 2.46 GAA and a .914 SV%, on a team that's 11th in the Eastern Conference in the AHL.
Devils fan saying an elite goalie isn't important??
No, but Brodeur hasn't been elite for a while now, and we've been fine. He's been average to above-average. All you need in today's NHL is a solid systematic team game with a goaltender that can keep you in games when you need him to. It always helps to have an elite goalie to fall back on though.
Kinkaid and Wedgewood look like they can both become just that.

Totally agreed with this. This trade will just never happen...
Otherwise in terms of value, I wouldn't trade a Norris Trophy winner for a Vezina Trophy winner. I mean a franchise defence-man makes his whole team look better. But that's maybe only my opinion.
Larsson is the future of our blue line & we are supposed to give that up for Ben Bishop (as said before Lehner a bigger upside & the Devils don't need a goalie right now.) And Mika Zibinjad (who theve chosen on draft day if they really wanted him over Larsson so bad.)
It would take a masive overpayment to pry Larsson away.
For information, In January'11 Brodeur was posting the worst league stats for a starting goaltender with 88.8%SV and the Devils were already in a playoffs spot.
