5 years have passed and the cap is different (inflation). The most significant however is UFA vs RFA. RFAs have little leverage other then the ability to sit out (see Subban, Benn, O'Rielly). UFAs can go to the highest bidder.
With the cap going down this off-season, plus all of the amnesty buyouts, the free agent market change. Offers will drop due to less teams being able to fit under the cap. There will be a major deflation. I think Lupul takes what he can get now. I think a lot of players will re-sign before the end of the season.

My prediction: Lupul takes 5 years at 25 million, front loaded 6/6/5/4/4 for a 5 mil cap number.

He should get 5 @ 4.75 max. But we overpaid Grabovski by 500,000-1m so I bet he'll get the same.

This is nothing against Lupul, but for basically the same amount of money, I would like to see Ryane Crowe on a first line with Bozak and Kessel. Crowe is exactly the type of winger Kessel needs, Bozak if he continues to move fwd is already an excellent fit with Kessel. A guy like Crowe's toughness and skill with Kessel and Bozak would make an intriguing line. I can see a 5 year, 5M offer sheet for Crowe until he hits 35, this is the type of core signing this team needs, and a player that would fit into Carlyle's system effectively.

1. His name is Clowe.

2. You can't offer sheet UFAs

Im not opposed to Clowe, but I'd try for 4m

That's okay... but I would have waited to see how Lupul does this season before extending him.

I was hoping a bit less but I guess that's pretty decent assuming he repeats his last season.

Good deal for both. I think it's fair, and I'm glad this isn't a problem moving forward. No speculation, no trouble, just signed and everyone is happy. Kessel is next this summer! (or as soon as possible)

I think if you look at comparable players that this is a very fair deal. Loops has the makings of a leader and even in an off game last night he spent a lot of time banging in front of the net.

Seems reasonable, maybe a bit high.

When can Kessel be re-signed, summer?

A little pricey for me but I guess it's worth it if he stays healthy and produces like a legit 1st line winger

I am saying we should go after him this summer, and target him hard if we can clear some salary off the roster, I'd rather him at 5.5M than Grabo at 5.5M 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. Brings an element to this team we desperately need.

Decent Deal, but if he repeats the preformance that he had last year, it could turn out better

This is a great deal if he continues to produce like last year.

We're talking about a league where Travis Zajac just got 5.75 over 8 years.

I'll take Lupul for that hit and term 10/10

Basically right on .

If he can keep his form from last year, this should be a steal.
