Why were the Habs so shoddy against a rusty bottom feeder who iced a marginal goaltender in a game in which I assumed the Habs would rack up 2 points? If this is typical, then I'm sorry the lockout ended.
On the contraire mon frere. If this is indeed typical like you say good thing there is a season because we can lock up a great talent if we finish in a lottery position, and it wouldn't be a whole 82 schedule that we would have to endure. Leafs, on the other hand, had a lot of chances to be in lottery position due to them being so terrible now their chances hinge on their performance and they are half season champs, plus they won't go anywhere in the playoffs anyway.

I didn't read this far at the time of my reply but yeah, this is essentially what I'm saying.
Not that I'm advocating a tank based on one game of course.
I think we should give the leafs some credit. They looked like they were ready and drilled after training camp, and we didn't. In a one-goal game, that could be the only reason we lost against such a crappy team.
Armstrong is not a tough guy. He's an agitator (Marchant) type player who is meant to draw penalties and throw people off their game. He also was able to put up significant points in Pittsburg. He hasn't been the same player since he left.
He said a tough guy AND armstrong... as in prust and armstrong
happens 100's of times in a game yet he calls that one
The puck was frozen for a long time in the goalie's chest, he had a lot of time to change direction or stop near him but they saw it as bad intention and penalized him. I agree with the call too, Plekanec needs to cut out those moments of frustration where he takes stupid penalties.
No the recipe for the loss is the lack of any offensive capability from the centre position. This is still a perimeter team passing the puck around as it waits for the other team to make a mistake.
The team gave up 2 goals. Two goals rarely holds up unless you're playing the impotent habs.
What is frustrating is that this is a longstanding problem.
If they hadn't taken bad penalties they might haVe won 1-0.

Of course I am serious. That does not happen "100's of times" in a season let alone a game. It was a much deserved stupid penalty.
The problem with the play is that it was a gutless way to try to shake up a rookie goaltender. That's the way our centres play, putting up some snow is easier than playing hard and making it difficult for the goalie to track the puck.

It's funny you say that because I watched the philly vs Pitts game and parts of the Ottawa vs Wpg game and I saw it happen 3 times in those games - none of those being called. If it was always called, yes I'd say that Pleks was dumb.. But it's never called. Also, even though Scrivens had it for a while the whistle wasn't blown until Pleks was right there. If the leafs would've taken offense to it, Komisarek would've got in Plek's face, but he didn't.
Again, not trying to excuse what he did, but 99 times out of 100 that's a non call.

If any other team did it Agnostic would call it a brilliant move and evidence that some 3rd liner is more valuable than Subban.
It was a dumb move by Plekanec but it happens all the time so I'm not surprised Plek was so shocked at the call, even if he should know better.
Players were rusty , they need a xouple of games to be back in game shape . That being said , MT is an awful coach . Seriously he's one of the worst coach in the nhl , can't beleive we are stuck with this guy

Other options weren't much better : Hartley, crawford ?

Prust was the tough guy. Armstrong is just a plug.
