2013 NHL Season Diving Thread [WARNING: Post 507. Please Read]

AFAIK, Alex Ovechkin and Steve Ott have been called for diving this year. I remember reading that they would call diving much more this season.

Is this a good sign? It seems like a decent ratio so far.

This is the dedicated diving thread for the 2013 NHL season. All talk of diving is to go in here. There will be no new threads created for every new dive or perceived dive.

Keep it civil please and remember to argue the opinion, not the person, and that demeaning opposing fans is not allowed.

CM

Some people obviously can't keep things civil. You'll find your warning here so keep that in mind before you decide to troll.

I also read they would call a lot more interference, but I'm getting sick of watching power plays.

The Ott call was more of a reputation call. Didn't feel like it was a dive and more of a hook that took him off balance.

I guess it's better to have a few of these calls so the guys know to hide it a bit better.

Steve Ott's wasn't even a dive, he didn't try to sell it at all..dude fell and got right back up and was called for diving.

I don't want interference, I don't want diving, and yet I don't want power plays. There seems to be no answer to this dilemma except for my idea of shortening power plays to a minute and making offenders sit for 5 minutes

Only can the NHL have the mentality that more PP's = a better game.

These pansies that moan about clutch and grab ruin everything.

Nor was Miller interfered with, a classic case of the refs looking too hard to make certain calls that were emphasized in the off-season.

In a lot of cases I agree that many PPs can get annoying, but diving really needs to stop.

It was indeed. I don't know why they call dives as they are as opposed to unsportsman like conduct.

It actually was for a dive/unsportsmanlike conduct and as a neutral I thought it was a very weak call.

Maybe those ******** silently put in that dive list rule. I can't wait for the amount of Alex Burrow's and Eric Staal's.

I agree that diving should not be in the game; but as stated above; its already to the point where the refs are looking too hard to make calls.

If the call is not bluntly obvious and/or takes away a scoring opportunity; it should not be called IMO.

Ovechkins dive was ridiculous last night. And then he came out of the box and gave another beauty of a dive right after that. Pathetic

Agreed, there have been some terrible calls in the Philly Buffalo game.
